the castle has been renovated to a very high standard. You can download an audio tour on your smart phione and this provides a vast wealth of information on the history of the castle. The ceilings are stunning throughout with amazing carvings and colour and the staircase is beautiful. A lift for disabled visitors is available. Well worth a visit

I've seen a few castles in my life, but this one is stunning I must admit. Beautiful ceilings, the chapel, all in a beautiful state. Worth €9 !

One of a few castles remaining in Spain that are pristine and very well preserved. Tours every day for 4 euros, they have audio English tours and it takes a few hours to see it. Wear comfortable shoes, lots of climbing steps

Truly in the middle of nowhere, this castle has taken years to renovate. Opening hours are erratic, so if you really must go in, check carefully before you go. Beautiful restoration and as a bonus, there are windmills right by it too.

Perfectly restored to impress its visitors, Castillo de Belmonte is one of a kind and well deserving its fame for everything it has to offer. Being famous for ages, since the movie "El Cid" was shot there in 1961, the castle is also well know for holding real medieval fights every year in September. Do not miss it if you're around!

You can see this Castle from far distance. It looks very majestic and inviting even from a distance. When you enter the Castle you will be astonished about how well restored it is. A visit is highly recommended. We spent almost 2 hours walking around in the Castle area and we enjoyed every minute of it. We can see that som find the entrance fee a bit high, but I can assure you that you will get value for every cent.

The Castle was interesting and featured many historical displays, but was largely deserted during the week.

Dear Michael; Thank you for your comment. We are really please you liked your visit to the castle. Unfortunately, we are yet far away to the potential number of visitors to this monument. On the other hand; you were able to enjoy a castle not as crowded as other touristic destinations that might become even annoying. Best regards; The Belmonte Castle Management Team

If you are a fan of a classic castle and a classic movie, this is a must visit. Interesting historical walk through, easily accessible, with parking.

Castillo de Belmonte has undergone many transformations over the centuries. Current version of the Castillo is only from the 1900's. So it's not really authentic but is interesting and well done. Lovely views. Interiors are well done and informative.

We drove quite a detour to visit this castle which was stunning and included an excellent audio guide. The opening times are rather awkward (closed a long time at lunch time) and to be honest, at 9 Euros it's rather too expensive.
