Pretty sure this is my favourite beach in Costa Rica - and there is stiff competition! We stayed near Playa Negra - which is also beautiful - and visited Playa Avellanas on a day trip. The accessibility of Lola's restaurant makes the beach that much...More

It was so much work just to get to this place. Perhaps during the busy season, it would be worth it to go here to avoid the crowds at Playa Tamarindo, but for us this was more trouble than it was worth.

Lola's its a nice beachfront restaurant to hang out but i think its the only place there to do so. Lola is a huge pig there btw.

Nice beach at Lola's - great restaurant and drinks. Great place to watch surfing. Be sure to find the resident pig

This was near the "black sand" beach which is really just a stretch of brownish sand and nothing special. This beach was beautiful but under the water there were sudden dropoffs, strong currents and lots of rocks. I would be careful with children and folks...More

Beautiful. It's fun to watch the surfers or take lessons. Even when it's raining it's beautiful. There is parking and we got to drink from a real coconut.

We walked over to the beach after eating at a local fish taco place. It was quiet and very pretty. There weren't a lof of people there and we were able to look at seashells, walk in the water, write in the sand, and enjoy...More

This beach just really isn't worth the rating. In comparison with the other beach I have visited along this peninsula, it is the least attractive. There is only one restaurant (lolas) which is very nice but has a monopoly on the beach and therefore can...More

Loved surfing here and Lola's restaurant is beautiful and has super yummy food! Make sure you get there before 6pm though, because that's when it closes!

I don't know . We were staying in Tamarindo and drove around. If you stay in Tamarindo you can walk to the beaches.

I would recommend contacting Iguana Surf they are in Tamarindo. They can rent you a board and make arrangement to get you there, they can also provide you an instructor if you wish. I would suggest staying in Tamarindo... More
