We have lived in the area for some considerable time yet this venue had somehow escaped me. As a Fathers Day present I was provided with tickets for an air show by my son, who graciously occompanied me. With the show ticket came the opportunity to visit the hanger displays before or during the show. If you are into aircraft,... More

Part of Imperial war museum Duxford. Very large, modern hanger packed full of some very big aircraft and clear informative displays. Well worth a visit.

As part of the IWM, this is as good an aviation museum as you'll find. Explore the history of the Americans in Britain from the second world war.

Until you walk in to the entrance and come nose to nose with the BUFF (B52 for the uninitiated the big ugly fat/flying fellow or variations on that!) you can't imagine what the VC or Republican Guard must have felt. And they were 40 000 feet away. Whatever your views are on bombing people and things, and even though they... More

Big is best in this place, the Flying Fortress is unbelievable. It's wing span goes from one side of the building to the other.

The American Air Museum is part of the Imperial War Museum Duxford. It has some fantastic exhibits such as the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the mighty Boeing B-52 Stratofortress & the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird amongst many others. It has recently been refurbished & now features lots of personal dioramas & artefacts that relate to people from all periods of the... More

A great set of aircraft that you can enjoy from the floor, the balcony, or look up to see. I remembered most of these from air shows in the past; hard to believe they're all museum exhibits now. The B52 dominates the room but it is accompanied by a B17 Flying Fortress, SR71 Blackbird, U2, F111, A10 and Phantom to... More

Dictated by Dad! Usual fair, nothing really different. The prices were on a par with the National Trust really. If anything slightly higher. Would be expensive if you were feeding a family. The scone was enjoyable.
