Very nice cruise on the Baïse. We pass through a lock on one side then the other in different ways. The visit is commented. I had already done it a few years ago, it's a thing to do at NERAC, 10 euros per adult and 7 euros per child. I recommend.

A group of us rented one of the little boats from the riverside at Nerac for an hour. It was a simple enough process although our French was taxed a bit as you have to phone to book. However the girl who dealt with the booking was charming, helpful and not only showed us how to operate the boat (very simple) but provided a guide book of what we could see in the short time we had. It was well written, informative, amusing and the whole experience was great fun through lovely French scenery up to a lock at an interestingly named place called Nazareth. The river, sadly doesn't appear too clean, I wouldn't have wanted a man overboard! It didn't detract from our trip however, thoroughly recommended.

Rented a small boat with a group of 5 for 2 hours recently. Great fun! We packed a picnic and had a lovely afternoon on the river. Navigating the lock was a bit tricky but there is an information booklet in the boat to help you. Helps to have a good crew & someone with boating experience on board.

AVOID for groups
The contract signed with Terre à l'Horizon, a Nérac travel agency which offers Les Croisières du Prince Henry, was not respected. Three months after signing, the agency asked me to change the date because it assigned this slot to another group following an error on their part. After my disagreement, it reversed course and reconfirmed the date.
The day we came, the lunch menu was changed unilaterally: chicken in the pot instead of the planned suckling pig. Faced with my anger, the agency's sales representative recognizes a new error but considers that the two menus are at the same price (!!!) so for them I am not wronged.

Another reviewer has actually used the exact words I was looking for, "largely unexciting". Not the fault of the cruise company, the staff were excellent and although my French is not good enough to understand when French speakers talk at their normal speed, the young lady doing the commentary had specifically slowed down in order that the one Anglais had a better chance of understanding. It didnt help that the earlier cruise didnt run because there were only 3 of us waiting, the weather was awful, and Id wandered around in the rain and chill wind whilst waiting for the confirmed 4.30pm sailing. At 7 or 8 euros I think, for an hour and a half, it is not expensive.
It is just that whilst there are a couple of historic features that can be seen along the stretch of river, they can also be seen from a riverside footpath if you choose. A lot of time is taken with going through the lock and back again, nothing new for me. The weather during the cruise became atrocious, but the riverside hangs with foliage and im sure the experience would have been far more enjoyable on a good weather day. But I had made an hour and a half car journey to get here and sadly, I felt it wasnt worth the effort. Lovely staff in the information centre where you get your ticket too.

We spent about one hour on the boat, the river was quiet and the guide brought a lot to our attention. We had to start in time, as the sluice closed 7 pm. But everything went smoothly and we could enjoy the gascognian cuisine at the end of the day.

We had a great two hour journey on the water. It was very easy to rent the boat and take it out. The locks were a little tricky. The kids loved it.

Rented a boat for 4 hours to spend an afternoon on the river. Nerac is beautiful withe the old centre of the town on each side of the river.

The boat base is right by the bridge in the Center of town and there is a large car park between the river and the theatre. It's not easy to find and parking is a little tricky in Nerac if you don't find one of the free car parks in the old quarter. The rest of the centre of town is a blue zone with 15 minute maximum parking.

The town looks beautiful from the river. In half a day there is not really time to make it to one of the other towns on the river by boat so most of the trip is through the beautiful local countryside.

There locks to be negotiated but these are automatically operated so no major physical effort is required.

The boat was easy to operate and good instructions were given on operating the boat and the locks. A pack of information and maps was also provided that gave information on the local history and the sites along the river.

If you're not confident about operating a small boat they also have an organised trip on a larger boat.

And even if you don't venture onto the river, Nerac itself is well worth a visit.

We decided to book a two-hour rental of a small boat on a whim, and it certainly turned out to be an inspired decision. The boats (we had an "up to 7 people" boat for three of us and a dog) are roomy, stable and well maintained. The instructions we received on how to drive were clear and helpful. The only slight downer was that when we entered a lock to ascend to the next stretch of river, it was quite tricky hanging on to the side of the lock as it filled with water. I'd be cautious of trying to do that on my own or with small children.
The river Baise is beautiful and the voyage out of Nérac well worth the trip. The higher part of the river after the lock is more countrified and winding, but equally beautiful. You can pick the pace of your trip from a very sedate 3km/h (at which speed steering the boat is a series of slow zig-zags) to the racy heights of 12km/h (steering no problem, but conversation a no-no as the engine is loud). My son and I alternated with the driving, both of us had great fun.
Two hours passed in an instant, but a magnificent, beautiful and fun instant.

A super slow boat ride up the canal/river which runs through Nerac. You go through a lock - lots of fun and you see kingfishers on overhanging branches of the trees. There's a talk pointing out interesting features and snippets of myth/history. There's now a little cafe where you can wait and other restaurants along the bank next to the tiny harbour. Worth booking in advance especially on hot days.
