Driving from Seville to Granada, we stopped by one of Spain's most famous "Pueblos Blancos" - the little town of "Zuheros", formely known, when the Moors occupied the Iberian Peninsula, as "Sujayra". Arriving there, you cannot miss the "Castillo de Zuheros", which was firstly built, according to legends, by the moors themselves in the 9th century. Reconquered by King Fernando III - The Saint, it has been refurbished, rebuilt and renovated along the centuries. Major interventions occured during the 12th, 16th, 18th and 20th centuries. A quick stop, a quick visit ... As the castle was built on the top of a rock, awesome views of the valley below. Nice pictures and fond memories to take home ... Enjoy!…

See title. Went to visit the cave, Cueva de los Murcielagos, it was nice, but was very much impressed by the beauty and charm of the village.

A complete surprise after all these years. Balanced on top of a rock the little castle is an absolute gem as is Zerhos. I’ve traveled so many highways and byways in Spain yet the country still has the capacity to surprise and delight.

Zuheros is one of the 50 more beautiful villages of Spain, and the castle is an important part of it. The most impressive though are the views from the view point. If you're not in hurry, spending a lazy afternoon here is a perfect choice. The bad part is that most of the bars and restaurants are closed from about 2-3 p.m. till evening.…
