This year the new government at Karon Beach has started a beach cleaning routine. Before they clean by manpower, people sweeping manually and it wasn't enough to keep the beach clean.
Now Karon Municipality has purchased a beach cleaning machine and the beach is groomed every morning to look like a sand trap in a premium golf course.
Wow, big difference !!!

Been there yesterday, a walk from Kata beach, not far.
You will see a wide stretch of yellow sand, it makes funny sounds while walking on :)
Nice, enjoyable place, but the waves are high.
Good to see and spend some time looking at waves.
Cleaner and calmer then Kata beach.
Enjoy the photos. :)

Absolute gem of a beach we stayed all day the sand is so white and soft and made even better the the sea , it were showing it power with waves but made the day enjoyable , all ages were bathing and swimming here , water sports are available, food and beverage also readily available. 2 beds and umbrella for 200baht or you can just lay on the top of the sand bank with your towels , a absolute perfect place to catch the sunset it does get busy but there is enough room if you coming to the area definitely drop in

Love this area. It wasn't crowded at all though this time of year it is very hot so maybe not as many visitors to the region. Great stores to shop for sarongs and pashmina. Plenty of eateries, lots of colour and noise.

Like many of Phuket's beaches, it is a very long stretch of beach, I enjoyed it as it is located exactly next to the city centre, so I walk past nearly every day. I also visited Patong Beach and didn't even go in, as it feels more crowded. I enjoy the less busy Karon Beach.
Good:
- The sand is soft
- The beach is clean
- surrounded by restaurants and shops, a very close walk to the centre
- can watch the sunset
- night markets and major events happen here
- good for long walks as the streets next to the beach are properly paved
Bad:
- toilets and showers hard to find

I'd regard this beach as currently one of the best in Phuket. A large expanse of clean sand , chairs, umbrellas and massage beds but the crowding of these facilities that are evident on other beaches. Plenty of people enjoying the beach area and ocean but not hordes. Its just a short stroll from the beach across the road and a good variety of hospitality facilities.

Green Turquoise water, white sand and clean beach!! That summarises all!! The tides are gentle making it friendly for a swim as well. Beaches and water is why you travel to Phuket and this is one of the best beaches here!!

Beautiful beach with squeaky sand! The water is pretty and clear but beware of jellyfish. I was stung at least 5x within 20 min. I probably would have been stung more had I not been wearing a rash guard. The sting doesn’t last long but it is annoying.
There are a lot fewer vendors walking by than in Kata or Kata Noi beach.

Karon beach is nice not many Thai people here anymore a little shocking. Beach is clean and has a nice walking path that goes along the ocean.
A lot of trash along the street though sad.

Is Karon Beach a nudist beach or are there any nudist beach near Karon Beach.
Dan L
Bunbury, Australia7,118 contributions
Its not a nudist beach but you will find tourists, who have little respect for local culture, in the nude.
Nudity is tolerated on the following beaches but those wishing to go nude must respect local customs and not flaunt their nudity.
Nui Beach, Mai Khao Beach, Big Buddha Beach, Leela Beach, Cosy Island Beach. Many people push the barriers until the police arrive.

Hi all. Am after a recommendation for scooter hire please? I’ve ridden scooters in Thailand before so know the ‘dos and donts’ but just need a rental compant.
Thanks all

I rented a scooter in Karen beach in March 2022 from a small shop in the alley directly across from my hotel - Baan Sailom Resort. Good quality scooter and good staff support. But it depends on where your hotel is situated. Karen beach has dozens of scooter rental places. Prices are negotiable, so check prices from at least two shops, preferably close to your hotel.

Depends what you eat and drink , street food is cheaper than restaurants, lots of small places in side streets for pizza etc...

Is there any differents between the South and the North side of Karon beach? Where are the most people and are the one side more relax then the other?

Hallo zusammen!

Hi there. We are planning to buy tickets to get a speedboat to phi phi etc IN patong or karon rather than online.... as its said to be cheaper. Can anyone please recommend a reputable street vendor or ticket office where you had an awesome speedboat trip?

Hi, ask for Nee from Karns Travel and Tours. We used her in November 2018 and again now in November 2019. She is based in Karon, however, she came to out hotel in Patong (as we requested her).
Excellent trustworthy service. Inbox me if you would like her details. You could also inbox her on Facebook. I was spectical when we used her last year and only paid 50% of each your upfront and then paid the remainder on the tour.
This year we paid everything upfront - no hassles.

The office that you get the ticket from does not matter. There are heaps. I found it 30% cheaper buying from an office rather than online. I chose Dimond sea tour which their service was perfect.

I see by the article:
Officers inspect Karon Beach following complaints of sun lounge zoning, that sun loungers are B200
a day or less, and they close at 5 p.m.
What is the price of beer?
If it is double, as is indicated by the price of loungers compared to Pattaya, I will not be visiting ever.

I found most of the sun loungers at Karon to be 100B, Kata were charging 200B, that's expensive, beer you can pick up at many shops cheaper than the vendors at the beach, many charge more and keep the change.
