I visited the Chartreuse Cellars 2 weeks ago with a colleague whilst we were working in the area and it was one of the best distillery tours I've been on. There was only 3 of us on the tour so the tour guide translated everything into English for us, something they don't normally do if there is a large group.... More

Even if you don't know or think you don't like this liqueur you will be surprised. The museum at the beginning is a fascinating insight into the drink itself, its long history, and how it is used/consumed today. The tour itself is excellent. Not too long and very interesting. The tasting at the end is probably the most popular and... More

Took my US friends to a different event, a tour at the Chartreuse distillery. The tour and the tasting afterwards is all free which is great but the tour is in French only. You are given a leaflet and some of the poster does have translation into English. Very impressive cellar, 19 50,000 liters 100 years old Russian oak vats.... More

The historical aspect alone is just extrordinary. But you get a (free) visit with a guide of the cave. The immense barrel of solid oak are a sight. Then there is a very good 3D movie presentation. All this is topped by a degustation of a glass of Chartreuse. A magnificient visit

This is a very nice space to promote the wonderful liquers made by the Chartreuse monks since 1605. The guide was interesting and informative and the museum fascinating. Afterwards the guide introduced all the products in the tasting room, and we were given a choice of tasting one. Of course all are offered in the sales shop, plus a few... More

An acquired taste; Chartreuse distillery has some of the most fantastic liquors ever made. Unique in colour and spirit, the cellars provide an inspiring view of the complexity for those travelling to the area. With the Alps in the background and a collection of different elixirs that have been on the market for over 300 years the cellars were certainly... More

Always a good day if you combine the museum at St Pierre de Chartreuse, a walk to the monastary and the factory but once again the staff make no effort to translate some pf the tour into english. This really lets it down. I can speak a little french but this really needs addressing as there are many nationailities there.

During your visit, you get a tiny peek at the carefully-guarded secret of the crafting of Chartreuse liquor. No photos or videos are allowed in the distillery (for good reason!). The visit is free: you are guided through the distillery and given information about the history of the liquor; you also see a 3-D movie about how the Chartreuse monastery... More

You start with a 30 to 45 min visit of the distillery. We did it with a group of 20 with 10 young children. The guide was very nice and knew a lot. She was also great with kids ( her name was Tatiana I believe ). After a visit, short movie and Q&A we headed to a chartreuse tasting.... More

The Chartreuse Distillery is an essential visit when in Grenoble and is a wonderful complement to a visit to the monastery and museum in the mountains a few miles away. The distillery is located in the pleasant town of Voiron (itself worth a wander round) with cellars dating back to the 19th century. The distillery offers an excellent free tour... More
