We cycled here as an excursion from the Moselle cycle route. a steep climb up hill. Really interesting to see Roman life and the villa reconstructed.

This massive villa was built on the remains of an actual roman villa, reconstructing how it would have looked, with the rooms furnished with furniture, fountains and the garden even planted as a roman garden. This is an absolutely essential visit for anyone with an interest in history and even for others, it is still an extremely impressive building. It... More

For once somebody had the bright idea to reconstruct a roman villa, in stead of showing the dug out remains of the walls. The big attraction is the 'taberna' where you can eat 'roman' food (which we didn't) and drink 'roman' wine, which we did taste (not too bad).

Well, having been to real sites, like Pompeii and Herculaneum, this looked pretty, but not real! It is sort of a recreation that looks artificial. The buildings don;t have an authentic look. Some of the details, like in the bath area bear little resemblance to the real thing!

gigantic roman villa, good museum but not that many artefacts, it is popular but one expected a bit more historical information. The food in the roman museum is fantastic, apparently using traditional roman recepies. For disabled people or elderly, you're up for a walk of about 500m from the parking to the actual museum.

After having heard a lot about the Roman Villa Borg, we had quite high expectations of the place. Entrance fee was cheap (which is a positive), and the place itself was charming. However, we were a bit disappointed, as though there was items in the museum to look at, and you could walk around the "kitchen" gardens, the place was... More
