There is not much at the Rocamadour to see but it is interesting and very photographic, there are some old wrecked wooden boats close by (they have decomposed a lot over the years tho) this is a strange building and well worth spending some time...More

An interesting building dedicated to Notre Dame de Rocamadour, Nautical interior, the stone that was used to build this chapel looks weather worn and fits perfectly in the surroundings. Definetly worth a visit.

The sand stone on the outside has been scoured by centries of wind and salt. In front is the reminients of the past fishing industry and the fort shows a rich past. The insides are simple but shows the churches age and the peoples background....More

This little church is very old and it has a very interesting shape and style. It was built in the 11th century and today it is a mariners chapel. Very simply decorated inside and the bell tower was very interesting as well for the steps...More

Lovely building outside and in with a decidedly nautical theme. The interior roof looks like it's been constructed by ship builders and there are yachts hanging from the ceiling, lovely !

Whilst on holiday in Cameret sur mer we once again visited Chapelle notary dame de Rocomadeur. It personifies the destination itself. A very special place to visit full of history and a very peaceful place to see.

Rocamadour, France is a dream in stone. A stopover on the Medieval pilgrimage trail. Don't even bother trying to drive up to the village. Park in the valley, take the little shuttle train up to the village. And then take the elevator and ultimately the...More

Old quayside church with model sailing boats hanging down from the ceiling. Easy to imagine the services held here, of celebration, loss or hope.

This lovely seaside chapel, close to the Vauban Tower (a defense tower), was a wonderful place to sit, reflect and pray while stopping by Camaret-sur-Mer. The sailboats in the waters behind the chapel contrasted the wrecked boat remains in front of it.

This chapel is probably something you'd visit in conjunction with the adjacent Tour Vauban. Very interesting and very peaceful. With young children in tow, it can be a challenge having them keep their voices at an appropriate whispery level. The altar is quite nice with...More
