Good value day out
Oct 2021 • Solo
I visited here the other day and thought it was a very good value day out. I bought a student ticket for £6 and spent a few hours there, I didn’t expect there to be as many animals as there were. The weather wasn’t too great but most of the animals could be seen, and there were indoor sections to explore. There was plenty of parking on sure but the tea rooms were closed. There was a refreshment hut in the picnic area but I would suggest taking a packed lunch as they ran out of sandwiches straight away. There were toilet facilities on site and also feeding demonstrations of the meerkats and lemurs.

Excellent Zoo!
Aug 2021 • Family
We adore this Zoo, the animals are well cared for and the place is always immaculate.

My daughter and I have been a number of tea and everytime you visit you learn something new.

We had 2 animal encounters today (Meerkats and reptiles) the experience cost £40 and it was worth every penny. Our keeper, John was amazing he was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his job and the animals he is also great with children and has the patience of a saint. We learnt so much from the time spent with him and as soon as my daughter left she asked when we could go back and meet more animals up close.

This is a delightful place to visit and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

Hidden gem
Aug 2021
Although we had no children with us we enjoyed the experience very much. The enclosures are good, very clean and the animals seemed happy.
The play area for children is really nice and we sat in the sunshine and had tea and coffee. Reasonable prices at the kiosk for food and drink.

I would definitely recommend this if you want to spend a relaxing 2/3 hours without spending a fortune. All the children we saw seemed to be having a great time.

Day out with the grandkids
Aug 2021 • Family
Booked the reptile and meerkat experience of the kids, they absolutely loved the reptile experience, got to handle snakes and lizards. John, our guide/ expert was great, he knew exactly how to handle the kids and was extremely knowledgeable which he put over in a great way. Would thoroughly recommend it, well worth the money.

Lovely Afternoon
Jun 2021 • Couples
First visit to Kirkley Hall Zoological gardens. At only £6.95 a ticket well worth a look. A pleasant 3 hours on a sun afternoon spent wandering around. Well covid secure sanitising stations every where, booking essential to keep numbers safe and a one way system in place. Being a hot day some of the animals where naturally hiding in the shade so didn't see everything but what we did see the animals were very well cared for and happy. There is a wallaby walk through at set times, top tip don't need to get there for the exact time as your just waiting in a queue, one family at a time is let through. Lovely to get so close to the wallabies and the staff are very informative and friendly.
There is a picnic area and playground again top tip take a picnic. There is a small kiosk selling beverages and snacks but they had ran out of sandwiches the day we were there. We had taken a picnic so just bought a coffee, really pleasant area to sit and have lunch.
It is quite small as zoo's go but still lots to see. Would definitely recommend it.

Small but nice zoo

We had a relatively lovely morning morning here. It's quite small and we were there a couple of hours, with quite along period spent on the small play area.

We had a fab afternoon at Kirkley on Saturday. So many animals to see and learn about.
Very well laid out and lots of staff on hand to guide us.
My 2.5 year old niece loved it as did we.
The extended family are looking forward to visiting on our next visit to Northumberland.
Brilliant value for money!

A lovely little trip to the zoo
Sep 2020
My two young children had a lovely time here this morning. We have visited many times over the last few years and I felt initially worried about returning due to Covid. I was pleasantly surprised how well the zoo had been adapted and really enjoyed our visit. We felt safe and there were plenty of hand sanitising stations. The staff were very happy and helpful and there were loads of animals to see. It felt very quiet given the crowd restrictions which made navigating a lot easier than previous visits. We love this zoo and looking forward to returning again soon.
