A fun cave excursion
Aug 2015 • Couples
Looking for a fun activity in a 160 million year old cave? Not far from the Parque Natural Sierra de Cebollera and a short distance from the N-111 you will find these caves at the entrance to Ortigosa de Cameros. The path from the main road is not well marked. There are several parking spaces on the road and from there you walk behind a historic building and across an old steel bridge. The ticket booth is on the other side of the foot bridge. They close in the afternoon from 1:30- 4pm. The guided tour takes about an hour and visits two caves. While there were several older people in our group and they managed the visit, it's important to note that there is a bit of walking involved and the paths in the caves require some flexibility and have narrow passages. Fortunately the paths are well lit and while not the most spectacular caves in Spain are certainly worth a visit if in the area.
