We went on the hike ''Ribeira do Faial da Terra'' which brings you to Salto do Prego, a beautiful waterfall. Also you will pass a medieval town, which is very special to see. Can be a little bit slippery, so look out. The start of the hike was a bit hard to find, but it was really worth it.

This circular and easy trail goes to a beautiful waterfall, where it must be amazing to swim in warmer months. The hike is very easy, but it might not be convenient if it is raining heavily. The village of Faial da Terra has a couple of bars where it is possible to eat something. It takes 2 hours maximum to... More

This hike was definitely a highlight of our trip to the Azores. It starts off pretty easy, but quickly climbs and gets steeper as you go. I had to pause a few times to catch my breath and definitely worked up a sweat, but I wouldn't classify it as difficult. The waterfall is gorgeous, with a chilly pool at the... More

Unspoiled and untouched are the key words. A place to discover combined with Sanguinho village. It takes more or less 2 hours for this beautiful trail. Relaxing and amazing the path in this natural area of the island. This is the Priolo lands crossing exotic flora along with the birds songs. Can't be more delightful. Highly recommended.

This waterfall required a 4ish mile round trip hike. The waterfall is amazing and the pool below it would be great to swim in on a hot day. The water is very cold. We chose a spot in the river above the waterfall to cool off before hiking back. I recommend doing this hike clockwise...visiting the small semi-abandoned village of... More

My wife and I did this hike while visiting Azores. I would suggest listening to others here and starting with the waterfall and coming back through the abandoned village. If you start with the abandoned village you trek up a winding cobblestone path which has no shade. Much easier in reverse. Parking is available along the road at the bottom... More

We were amazed to see families with young children walking to this beautiful waterfall - often in flipflops! It's approximately a 6km round trip, and steep on forest paths, but well marked. Very popular picnic spot and you can have a little swim. But be prepared for sitting on bolders, not lounging on a beach.

Nice walk in a tropical environment. On your way to the waterfall you walk mostly besides the river. You have to go up for about 300 meters. Possible to swim in the water in front of the waterfall. Come in the morning then you are almost alone. On your way back you can choose another trail that brings you to... More

Worth going out of your way to visit, lovely walk of about 4km (round trip) to the waterfall through forests, if you're feeling a bit more adventurous and want to walk longer there is another side path off to another smaller waterfall. (Wear walking shoes or good trainers)

A short, but somewhat challenging hike (we saw a grandma on flip-flops there so don't overestimate it) of about 30 minutes led us to the beautiful waterfall which is worth the hike - which in itself is also beautiful and peaceful. It is not a "secret" location but nevertheless it was really quiet over there. I would urge you to... More
