This resort is easily accessible from Tokyo and has all amenities needed for fun in the snow. The small kids area has a slide area. Lessons are available in Japanese and English. Also, many other mountains are nearby if you spend considerable time in the area. The runs are wide and easy for beginners. I think advanced boarders and skiers... More

Iwappara is a huge ski resort with a very big kids play area. Recommended place to bring kids for this place for snow play, and beginners ski.

Just visited this resort with my three children. We are all beginner skiers and it was perfect for us. Wide open slopes, convenient restaurants and a small sledding hill for when the kiddos needed a break.

Very good place. You can go by fast train in less than two hours. There are nice hotels around. You can even stay in the town and climb to the resort by teleski.

If you a begginer of ski, can try Snowscoot in Iwappara. It´s very easy and cool. Have a good speed and control. Have a Free Shuttle bus from JR Echigo Yuzawa Station.

Looking for a ski resort close to Tokyo for some easy skiing in a sunny slope and with plenty of "alpine" restaurants in the slope ... Iwappara could be it. It's not that challenging ... but for 1-2 days easy skiing, it's decent. If you combine it with a stay at the Sierra Resort though ... the experience will improve... More

Loved the super wide runs and the amount of snow that fell over my 5 days there was ridiculous. Hated the music they played on the mountains... byoMusic

very good resort ideal for beginners and families. Good skiers will soon want something more although powder skiing will keep you occupied for a while. Prices are reasonable and unlike Europe, Japan doesn't rack up the prices on the piste to screw you for everything they can so it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to take your... More

Iwappara is a great small resort that is easily accessible from Tokyo via the Shinkansen train. The Echigo-yuzawa station is a 10 minute ride from the mountain, and I believe there is a shuttle bus that runs from the resort to the station. There are many ski resorts in the immediate area, Iwappara is not an expert ski area -... More
