We only had 3 days for golf and wanted a great golf experience. Found Penina Resort online and excited by their claim of being 5 Star. Not a chance. The driving range balls must be 5-10 years old. The greens were in very poor condition. The rest of the course looks like nobody cares. They wanted 50 euros for power... More

Travelled along the Algarve to enjoy Penina's summer special golf deal (51euros) between 11 and 3. Buggy cost 45 euros. Expensive and rather unimaginative menu in clubhouse restaurant. 2 of the party found nothing they would choose. Where were the toasties or simple sandwiches. Croquet Monsieur was 14 euros! At 1st tee we joined a queue of 4 groups waiting... More

Having played here many times before, I can't believe how much the course has deteriorated. In a lower league now than the Pestana Courses (that includes Alto).Definitely overpriced. Course very dated now. Wont be going back anytime soon. Take my advice and cross this one off your Algarve list of "great courses" to play.

Having arrived at this championship course there where very few golf buggies for our party of 15, which is our fault for not pre booking ? (sorry you pay through the nose and cannot pre book the golf buggies ). We managed 3 buggies one of which did not make it round the course. From my prospective I hired an... More

This course is very challenging but thoroughly enjoyable! There are several dog-legs, water hazards, including the sea, those wonderful deep bunkers and undulating landscape with plenty of big trees with drooping branches. Love the drinks cart that comes around quite often to sell you snacks, water and for wanting of something to deal with the frustration and lost balls, some... More
