It is only about an hour drive from Otaru. It worths to go. It is not just because of the rugged rocks in the ocean but also scenic drive on the way. The walkway from car park took about 15-20 mins only, easy no difficulties....More

The view at the top is worth the climb (which takes quite a bit of work, just give yourself time to stop and enjoy the scenery instead of rushing).

bus runs a few times a day from Otaru and once a day from Sapporo; disappointingly, gate to walk to lighthouse was closed today (8 July)--that means that the sight can be visited easily in around 30 minutes
