30% bloom on Jan 28 2017

I first went to Yogi Park in Naha. They had zilch. Lots of tiny buds – best estimates were they’ll bloom in a week or so. We drove to Motobu and up Mount Yaedake. Someone said... read more

We took a cab all the way up to where there was a small temple and walked down. Although the cherry blossom wasn't in full bloom yet, the flowers are still a wonderful sight. Love this place which is good for taking a slow walk and breathing the fresh air.

Someone said it was blooming only about 30% and that next week would be best. I thought what had bloomed was great. We had a nice... More

Beautiful road to the summit lined with cherry blossoms on both sides. From the bottom you can look up the mount and see the zig zag of cherry blossoms through the surrounding green forest. From the top great views of the ocean and surrounding countryside. During the festival there are stops about halfway and at the summit to buy food... More

Managed to catch the yaesu sakura in bloom so it was lovely to drive up the the mountain road lined by sakura trees. The light up was disappointing compared to the one in Nakijin Castle but there is no admission charge here.

Was a really relaxed trip. Away from the city and beautiful Sakura blossoms. The festival was as to be expected. Lots of game booths, food booths and a few kid rides which were expensive. There is a fairly new kids park with a obstacle course and slide. This is a nice place to visit with family even outside of cherry... More

This was my first time cherry blossom viewing and this was definitely the extra cherry on top for our trip, as we weren't aware of the early blooming season in Okinawa. When we visited Mt. Yaedake, they had an outdoor cherry blossom festival, with some food stalls selling Japanese delicacies, and performances. When we visited in early February, it was... More

This is a great place to see some beautiful views! This is also going to be a great place to enjoy the cherry blossoms as well although it wasn't the season when I went. The only down side is that if you are wanting to drive around the mountains you might want to avoid bringing a larger car because roads... More

There are a network of parks and interesting sites going up this mountain! Great spot for photos if you don't have the energy to climb Katsuudake

Mt. Yadake usually catches my attention only during the months of Jaunary and February because that is Sakura, or Cherry Blosssom Season. The hill is very steep and it is on a winding country road so, driving slowly is advised. There are parking areas and a few places along the route and when blossoms are in full bloom, festival tents... More
