We drove past Lake Toya on our way to Niseko and were mesmerised by this scenic lake. Had to stop our car albeit the windy cold weather to capture some pictures.

Lake Toya is about a 2-hr express train ride from Sapporo. We spent an afternoon there, along the promenade by the lake. It was sunny but windy, there were hardly any tourists around. And because it was a clear day, we could see the mountains...More

Visited Lake Toya on 3 May 2017. First thing recommended for any tourist is to drop by the visitors centre to get a map of Lake Toya. And from there, you can drive to the ropeway to have a close distance look at an active...More

Was there in 1st week of April, the lake was quiet with little visitors and it's nice to relax and stroll around the lake. The view of the lake is scenic with Mount Yotei in the background.

Pretty sight for a drive. No need to go on a cruise-castle-like- ferry is very basic, washrooms unclean, altogether touristy. Everything you need to see you can see from the bay walk or drive around.

We came here at the start of winter. We did the Lake cruise and we enjoyed the experience of birds flying over us as the ship toured around the center of the lake. The cool, biting breeze and the snow-capped mountains delighted the nature-lover in...More

We didn't stay in Lake Toya as we only visited for the day from Hirafu-Niseko (about an hour away). We did have lunch at a great little burger place called hydune, got a take away and ate it overlooking the lake, beautiful... More

Mia, you need to check the availability of public transport if you intend to visit during off peak seasons. Buses are infrequent and we could not even get a taxi after hours. There are plenty of free foot and hand baths... More
