肘折温泉では朝5時から松井旅館前付近から奥のほうに朝市が開かれている。朝市は呼子など有名どころと比べると非常にこじんまりとした市場となっているが、取れたての野菜や地元の人たちがつくった商品が売られている。

２件で買いましたが、１件は200gあるはずのところを150gしか入れておらず、もう１件はフードパックがボロボロで1センチぐらいの大きな穴が空いていました。どちらも店の人が袋に入れてくれたのですが、信用できませんね。もう2度と行きません。もしもどうしても買ってみたいという人は、自分で手にとって選びましょう。

小さい温泉街なので朝市も小規模ですが、地のものを求めることができます。笹巻、しそ巻き、くるみなど購入しました。他の地方の人間にはめずらしいものばかりでした。

5月・6月は朝5時30分～7時ぐらいまででした。6時ぐらいが観光客で多く賑わっていました。市の端から端までただ歩くのなら3分もかからないぐらいの規模ですが、なんとも言えない風情がありました。年配の女性・男性との会話を楽しみながら、笹巻き、生の山菜、山菜の加工品、調味料、キノコ、栃餅を買いました。山菜は最終日にまとめて買い、家に持って帰り、湯掻き、一部冷凍して、おひたしや山菜そば、炒め物などでちょっとずつ楽しみました。個人的には、こしあぶら、しおで、あいこ、こごみが気に入りました。もっと買えばよかったです。料理法や味付けなど、聞けばヒントを教えてくれます。
たくさん買えば少しおまけしてくれるので、どんどん買ってしまいましたが、いい思い出です。
山菜が取れるシーズンの日曜日は、山菜料理（汁ものなど）がふるまわれるようです。
『東北朝市紀行 (私の大学テキスト版/池田進一 著）』という本を前もって読んでおくと、この朝市の見え方が違ってくるかもしれませんよ。年配の方が多く、毎朝大変だと思うので、頭が下がりました。
たくさん買えば少しおまけしてくれるので、どんどん買ってしまいましたが、いい思い出です。

１０人くらいのお年寄りが店開きしてます。主に売っているのは山菜、きゅうりの古漬け、干し大根、笹巻きチマキ、南蛮味噌などでどの店も大体同じ商品です。
品数は少ないのであまり面白味はなかったです。

朝、泊まったお宿の目の前で朝市が開かれてました。
狭い温泉街の道路沿いに十数軒ほどの露天が並び、朝どれ野菜や山菜、果物、またそれらの加工品などが売られています。私たちも部屋を出て、いろいろ見てみます。朝市の規模自体は、はっきり言って小さいです。大体のお店では、キノコ、唐辛子、ぜんまい、かぼちゃ、栗など山のモノを中心に販売していて品揃えはどこも似たり寄ったりって感じでした。そんな中、こんな山の中で…と売られていたのが“筋子”です。何でもこの地域では、朝食に筋子を食べるのだとか。見た瞬間に食べたいスイッチがＯＮになり、朝食のお供にと少量の筋子を購入。お宿に戻って朝食と共に頂いてみます。塩分が少々きついが旨し！ご飯が進みます。あっという間にご飯の御櫃を空にして、ごちそうさまでした。

わざわざ6時前に起床するも、はっきり言って大したことない。パックものの佃煮・漬け物系と、野菜（大根など）、惣菜がメインで食指は伸びず。そして、超絶ぼったくりの舞茸。売り子の親父のドヤ顔に腹が立った。
早起きするだけ損をした。朝食の時間まで寝てた方がマシだった。あれは完全な観光客目当ての悪徳商売だ。

こちらでは、きくらげが名物なんでしょうか？
だいたい３袋で1,000円、同じ値段で量が違う袋が並んでいるので、お話を聞きました。
量が少ないのが国産、量が多いのが中国産とのこと
どっちを食べてもわからないよ！との話だったので迷わず中国産を購入しました。
治外法権なのか、消費税も不要とのこと。得したのかな？（笑）

肘折温泉の村井六助、松井旅館がの前あたりで、4月下旬から11月下旬まで、毎日開かれています。春夏は朝5時30分からですが、朝一番からにぎわっていて、とれたての山菜類がたくさん並んでいます。だいたい一束500円くらいですが、飛ぶように売れています。6時前にはめぼしいものはほぼなくなっています。肘折温泉の名物です。

朝市と言ってもとっても小さな市です。地元で取れた野菜や手作りの漬物や笹で巻かれたちまきの様なもの？などあまり見たことがないローカルな珍しい食材が満載で、見ているのも楽しかったです。
