I was told by a friend that this is one of the top 3 mountains in Japan! The walk was simply awesome. Although i was not prepared for the hike, the slow trek has already take up a few hours. As i have climb Mt.Fuji before, but im sure each mountain has their beautiful side. Get prepared if you wanna... More

I climbed the mountain on July 2016. The weather was fine, though it was a little shiny. To access the mountain, I went to Tateyama station and took a cable car, then a bus to Murodo. The round trip from Tateyama station to Murodo costs around 4,000 yen. This mountain is not too difficult to climb and can be a... More

The summit of Tateyama is only a 1 hour 30 hike from Murodo, but the 2nd half of the trail is for hikers, you need good shoes and a hiking pole is a plus. Great views from the top. You can do a loop and come back a longer, but actually better trail. For real hikers, the ascent of Tsurugidake... More

It was a rainy day when we reached murodo at 2300m. We wear the raincoat and continue to the hiking trail. The view is really good. A place not to miss.

Mount Tateyama is the highest mountain in the Japanese Alps and well worth a look. Pristine with snow, pretty as a picture and a beautiful sight to behold. Visit the area, you won't be disappointed :)

A bit of a tough walk up the mountain side (about 20-25 mins for beginners) but, well worth the effort, when you see the amazing view waiting for you at the top. Nature at it's finest, on a clear day you can see for miles and miles ... it was breath-taking (literally and figuratively). The slow walk down is a... More
