We drove more than three hours to get to this quaint remote village located north of Kyoto. And the village is definitely worth the drive. It's incredibly beautiful and quiet. A cafe had just opened on the day of the arrival, and it is right...More

We visited this beautiful place in January. It was cold, sunny, and fortunately not very breezy. We walked alone in the village and maybe just saw one or two other small group of tourists. If you want a change from crowded streets of Osaka, this...More

By chance, we stopped off at "Ochaya-no-kaka" (next to the P.O.) for directions to the boat tours and by chance we discovered that they were serving lunch (it doesn't seem like a very regular occurance), so we stayed for a meal. The local fish was...More

Nice experience venturing alone in this wonderful area, stayed here for a night in a simple funaya. Woke up early in the morning just to experience true serenity where you can hear boats rubbing against the dockline not too loud or violent.. good for relaxing.
