Coming here in early Jun, we were able to see a lot of flowers in the park. The color of orange, pink and green were everywhere, and apart from the flowers there were also a lot of vegetation among the irregular black volcanic rocks coming...More

Didn't expect much from it as I expected a place with rocks, rocks and more rocks. Was blown away but the beautiful sunset views. They had different paths to walk, with the estimated time and distance. If you have time to spare, try to explore...More

The view on our drive to the location was amazing from Karuizawa. Mount Asama covered in snow was in sight at the last 5km. The formation of lava rocks were simply amazing.

The austerity of this place was humbling and beautiful. Worth a trip if you are at all interested in volcanology and the fleeting nature of life.

Spectacular views of mt Asama and the mountains of Nagano. Nice short walks through the lava rocks, kids got excited, and scenic views of Japanese temples and shrines along the way. It gets crowded during the Japanese holidays (beginning of August), so try to avoid.

The park was filled with large stones hardened from lava. It would be a nice walk on a fine day with some lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Other than that, I wasn't sure what the appeal of the place was.

viewI've visited this place several times to show my friends from oversea(i'm not living in japan either). So far, everyone seemed to love this place. I love the view of asama mountain from here, too.

Interesting place to visit, nice trail to walk and merchants to buy from at the base. Only letdown is the overall cost. You have to take a toll road to get up and again to get down plus the cost to get inside.
