This very quiet museum is located in an old castle sitting along the lake of Geneva. The items are all very well presented and were fun to examine. I was sorry the museum did not have a catalogue we could buy nor reproduction of some historic card games. Among the curiosities: a cold war table game with the CIA, MI5,French... More

For such a little museum, my family spent A LOT of time here -- almost 4 hours. There were interesting displays of games throughout history and in different cultures. What fascinated us the most were the games rooms (one upstairs, one downstairs). My family is big into board games so this was the perfect way to spend a very rainy... More

Even if you don't want to go inside you can have a walk around it and enjoy the magnificent view or the charming small restaurant which is hidden inside the museum.

The museum was a great outing to travel the past and show kids that there was a life before iPads and Xboxes. The museum is nicely laid out and kids can even make a few rounds of the games available in the various room. Nice fun had by all.

This museum is located in a castle just out of Vevey on the way to Montreux. It gives a lot of great history on games from around the world. There is a lot of focus on chess and they have a wonderful large chess set to play in the courtyard. There were samples of games around the exhibits. My daughter... More

The Swiss Museum of Games is located in Tour-de-Peilz which is on the lake at the Montreux end if Vevey. Beautiful castle setting for a Museum which exhibits various games played down the centuries. An extraordinary number of amazing chess pieces on display giving a history of each game displayed. The exhibition is on the first floor and the second... More

Great museum and Chateau. Downstairs is a lovely hall and upstairs are the games. You could spend days here. The museum is not that big, but it had so many games to see and many that you can play. Educational and fun. It's a must if you're in Vevey (well Tour-de-Peilz). It's so good we hired it for our wedding... More

Ended a morning's walk along the lakeside at this museum and decided to visit. Fascinating collection of games from earliest pre-history up to current day, very good collection of items. The ordering by themes in successive rooms is helpful in illustrating development of games and where they fitted into society at different eras, e.g. in relation to religion, money making.... More
