We first visited Shawsgate in July 2015 when we had a few days away in nearby Saxmunden at some friends caravan. We just turned up one day and collected a leaflet for a self guided tour. Obviously the grapes were only just starting to grow but it was still interesting and a lovely walk in the sun. They do booked... More

We were immediately welcomed by Pat who took us for a tour of the Vineyard. She is well informed and made the tour interesting for example tasting selected grapes for later reference in the wine tasting. Both the white and red wines were excellent and could be related to the grapes tasted earlier. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the... More

A repeat visit, we decided against the tour of the vines due to the poor weather. The staff helped us through almost the entire range of wines on offer and chatted for some time whole we deliberated on what selection to have. A box was found and the bottle packed securely. A brief chat about growing vines followed, as that's... More

Decided to visit and have a wonder around the vines, we watched the hares running between the vines playing. The wine tasting went down well and have purchased red, white for Christmas The lady who served us was a joy and her knowledge of wine went along way, plus she makes a lovely cup of tea was

Something of a gem, the discovery of an English Vineyard in deepest Suffolk was an unexpected delight! Invited to walk the vineyard through the many rows of various grape varieties, the ambience within was truly excellent, the calming setting, surrounded by windbreak hedges was well worth experiencing. A wine tasting in their courtyard garden followed, the whites returning a much... More

Received the gift of a visit to Shawsgate for a tour and lunch as a Christmas present. We wondered why it was so busy and tricky to set a date, we know now! Excellent day, wonderful people, terrific food, very informative and superb wines. Will return whenever our stocks are low of both Sparkling and still wines. A great big... More

"lost" in the Suffolk countryside is this wonderful vineyard offering informative tours, wine tasting, and surely one of the best afternoon teas in the whole of the country. OK, the weather which was good helped, but we could not fault this in any way. Staff were knowledgeable, polite and very helpful. A truly memorable visit which will stay with us... More

Visited this vineyard for the first time today. Sadly we was too late in the season for the full tour. However we did manage a short walk around the vines. We came back from the short walk and was immediately asked if we wanted to try any samples. We all had to sadly decline because of medication. However we was... More

Found this place just after leaving the lovely town of Framlingham. They offer a wide range of wines with a tour and a tasting. The wines are not the cheapest but good home grown wines are never cheap. The people in the shop were very friendly knowledgeable and helpful. I tried some of the bubbly stuff (They have to send the... More

This is one vineyard tour that was very enjoyable, the host had a unique presentation style .The time spent listening to the growing and trailing techniques made the visit to the vines understandable. Then the changing landscape of the vineyards was also explained as the yields change. The tasting again was very informal, lots if knowledge given, and all with humour. The experience... More
