Really nice place to be visites uf you are in Bulgaria. Nice fresh pictures and really nice enviroment.

The monastery is very well conserved. The church is amazing and what to say about the frescoes! Be careful with your clothes you have to be quite covered (impossible with a short for a woman for example).

During the day the place is over run with tourists, but after about 6pm they all leave and you are left felling like you have the entire monastery all to yourself which makes for a special feeling and some lovely tourist free photos at sunset....More
The Rila Monastery is beautifully maintained and all buildings are restored really well. It is a small place and one does not need more than half an hour to walk around. It tends to get very crowded so it is not really a peaceful place...More
