We transferred to a smaller boat from our river boat. Sailing a tributary of the Yangtze we got a closer view of the cliffs and indigenous peoples on the shore. We docked and went ashore at Shennong Stream, a small village build on the shoreline. After shopping at the souvenir store buying local crafts we were treated to a traditional... More

This was a wonderful excursion . We went by ferry for about an hour and a half. Its a very scenic cruise. You get a better look at the life along the river. And the scenery is spectacular!!

We took a boat from the ship cruise passing through incredible beauty nature . Mountains are covered with trees and we saw some animals like monkeys and goats. It is a branch of Yangtze River . Then we took a very small boat wearing life jacket . The guide sang A nice Chinese song.

We took a small boat from our cruise ship and were very pleased with the beauty of the surroundings on the side trip up the Shennong stream. The mountains are beautiful, the river takes on a much nice colour than there was in Chongqing, and the interesting sites along the way, like the hanging coffins and the village with so... More

This was a side trip on our 3-day Yangtze River Cruise. The ride on the Pea Boat was fun and the scenery extraordinary. Between the Cruise boat and the pea boats we saw the hanging coffins and wild monkeys coming down to get a drink from the river. The boats were all rowed by men in their 60s and out... More

I took this excursion from the Yangtze river cruise. We got into wooden boats and had 4 men rowing. When we got to the side of the mountain, they got out and pulled our boat. The story is very interesting and why they did not wear clothes back then. I really liked this and highly recommend doing this.

This was an excursion whilst on the Yangtze River cruise. We took a ferry under the Badong Yangtze bridge. From here we saw a hanging coffin and many limestone rock faces. After a while we boarded a smaller boat that was steered and rowed by five boatsmen. It was very picturesque. Highly recommended!

Great experience in a smaller boat with an English speaking guide. Majesty of the three gorges but in a smaller scale. At times it seems like you could touch both sides at once, other times round a bend the river opens up. The geology is a highlight as are the small ossery coffins in the cliffs. No one seems to... We boarded a boat from our cruise ship to view the Shennong Stream. It is situated in between the Wu and Xiling Gorge.A community of Tujia minorities lives here. They were desendants of farmers, oarsmen and boat trackers before the Dam's construction . Cheerful youths in Tujia costumes welcome our boat's arrival. We changed to a small sampan for closer view of... More
