Left the hotel at 3am for an hour journey. Worth the wake at wee hours to watch the sunrise

There was proper steps to the peak however they are slippery

Wear jacket as it was windy and tempered ranging between 11-18 degree Celsius.

Very unfortunate there were a lot of smokers and littering of cigarettes butts!

Golden Sunrise at 11 degrees with altitude 2346 mdpl in rainy season. With random squad :) very cheerful and full of solidarity.

Great Spot to see Sunrise. But you need to Luck to see the great view. This tourist attraction located at the highest village in Java Island named Sembungan Village. Need about 30mins drive from dieng city to reach the Car Park. You have to climb up about 45mins to reach to the Top. Need to prepare yourself because the path is quite steep and slippery.

The best place to visit in the Dieng area. A nice and steep path makes it easy to capture every step at this location.
Incredible views from the top of the hill, visible Kawah Sikidang and a Telaga Warna that make a wonderful photo background.

Need to start hiking at 4 am from the parking ground. Use sport shoes, warm jacket, flashlight and mask, since sometime the path quite dusty. After taking uphill you 'll arrive approx at 5 am at the top to see sunrise. During high season or weekend, its very crowded to find nice spot for enjoying sunrise. It's beautiful sunrise with mountain background although less compare to Bromo or Ijen.

when we are planning for dieng visit, our first choice is sikunir golden sunrise! I seen lot of reviews regarding this gunung sikunir..we woke-up around 3a.m on the morning, and started our travel to sikunir. what my suggestion is ,you should select your hotel/Home stay (in dieng, mostly home-stays only available) near to the sikiunir..Because even the 4-5 kilometers travelling also take around 30-45 mins due to the weather. we stayed around 6 kilometers from the sikunir, and we traveled around 40 mins to reach there. Because in that early morning, you cant see anything ..the road full of mist..if you dont have a experienced driver, then really you will get screwed!one more thing the road also not a normal one..its full of up and down way. Finally after 45mins of travel we reached there. if you are going on Sunday then you should reach bit earlier..because getting parking slot on Sunday is bit difficult.the entrance fee is 10k Rp/Person..once you started to hike..you feel the wow..its takes around 30-45 mins according your stamina to reach the top..steps are there, but bit slippery in raining times..upside bathroom facilities are there..after 40 mins we reached the height and waiting for the golden sunrise..the climate is awesome..you feel the chillness and pure form of air..unfortunately that day that day full mist around the mountain..we couldnt see anything up to 6am..but in-between few seconds the mist was disappeared ,and we see the opposite mountain for a second. After waiting 40 mins too, there is no hope to the sunrise..We are really unlucky..then peoples slowly started to move down,we too..while you r going ,bring proper jackets and shoes to bear the chillness..and wishes to see the golden sunrise

The hiking path actually was good with handling rail but the land was slippery due to hard raining on the night before.

FEB 23 2019 - The original plan was to climb Gunung Prau but when we arrived in Dieng we were told that it is still closed for 3 months and will be opened on April 2019. So we decided to look for beer and enjoy our night with booze but we ended up in a coffee shop. Our driver took a pack of food with map of all tourist destination. And was lucky to point to him the sunrise hill.

We started from our homestay place at 4am after a short ride then the walk to the top was only around 15 to 30 minutes depending on the traffic and your speed. When we arrived at the top it was stiil dark. then the sun started to shine. oh it was the most amazing sunrise i have seen.

im planning to bring my children there.

This isn’t a mountain actually. It’s a hill. And here there’s Tembungan village, the highest village in Java island. We were supposed to hike Mt Prau, but we couldn’t because of the weather. It was raining and there were wind gusts. We were not allowed to go up. Our guide even told us that they had to save two girls who camped up and bring them down as their tent was broken and they got sick. Anyway, we started hiking sikunir hill at around 8 am. It was still really foggy and misty. It wasn’t a long hike but it was a bit steep. The facilities was good. The track was stones. But near the top it was really muddy. Once in a while, there was sunshine, but mostly we were surrounded by fog. It was a pretty good hike though.

Mount Sikunir is the best mount to hike with children or elders. Because of the infrastructure, this mountain trails have handling rail, stone “stairs”. Magnificent view from above, if you’re lucky enough you can get view that feels like you’re above the clouds (2nd pict) or it’s clear enough to see many villages down there. The downside hiking trails our guide took us is a little bit “nature” but the view is all worth (1st and 3rd pict)
