Some of the recent reviews were surprising...Of course, it helps to have an interest in horses to visit a stud farm. However, just spending time with the mares and foals can be magical, even for non-horsey people. My husband and I loved our time there,...More

This is an amazing mecca for horse lovers, with a long and proud story integral to the history of Portugal, but has lost it's State funding due to the financial crisis. Still WELL worth a visit!

We dropped by the National Stud Coudelaria before heading on South. Apparently people come here especially, but only two or three others had today. The guide eventually materialised after a long delay, and managed a small amount of English explanation (whilst also having her children...More

Amazing place, with lovely staff! Second time in Coudelaria and I hope to visit it again! If you have time, try to sleep in the house of Braganza's King...a unique experience!
