This is a very well restored 17th Century fort with a lot of information about the region and its history, with plenty of rooms and battlements to wander around and get a feel for the history. There is a self guided tour that tells you the purpose of all the different rooms. Well worth a visit - we did it... More

I really enjoyed visiting Jabrin Fort. It is an amazing restoration and really explains how the fort was used for living and also defense. Make sure you get the audio guide that explains all the different areas... The Whispering Room! You simply cannot visit the area with visiting Jabrin Fort, our guide said it was actually a Castle.

From the area around you would not guess the significance of this fort to the history of Oman serving as it did as the former residence of the sultan of Oman. The entry is tremendously good value and the included audio tour is very detailed and instructive. I would really recommend a visit to this fort to get a view... More

Nice fort, worth giving it a visit if you are passing by. Te restauration seems done quite recently, the local people are very friendly, and it's good to have an idea of the Omani culture and history.

Jabreen castle is a nice way to spend an hour or two. The self-guided audio tour gives you lots of interesting information about Omani life and the castle itself. You can climb to the top and take some lovely panoramic pictures of the surrounding area. We had a great time exploring the maze of rooms and hallways, each with its... More

I thoroughly enjoy exploring old castles and fortresses and the Jabreen Castle was superb. It is well preserved and full of details and artifacts throughout its varied rooms and alcoves. From fig storage areas, to weaponry, to inspiring Arabic calligraphy, this castle gives the visitor a rather complete understanding how the residents lived in this relatively harsh, arid environment. Built... More

Great castle has been restored to its original state and is very well set up for tourism. The audio guide (multilingual) was great in helping us learn about the castle. Beautiful 360 views of the area (duh, it's a castle, they wanted to see who's coming!) I found their use of date syrup for cooking and as a weapon to... More

Most of the tourist visiting Oman will plan to go Hoota cave. Since it was closed due to maintenance that day we forced to go near by places, then identified this castle and felt nice trip.

We took a day trip from Muscat with this place as our ultimate destination, not really knowing what to anticipate. It was more than a little warm outside, but it was comfortable inside. Well, okay, not really comfortable, but certainly better than outside. It was a fascinating place to explore with a lot of history and context explained. Having this... More

a great place to visit for something a little different to the Castes of Europe. Oman is a spectacular country, and the views from the top of this castle are sublime on a clear day. Well worth the visit, get a guide for the whole story.
