The Solar Heritage is a very stable, roomy and quiet catamaran. The guides were very knowledgeable and helpful. It was a sunny day and we saw lots of birds. Teas, coffees and biscuits are provided (charity contribution), there is a toilet on board and the binoculars provided were much better than mine. Beautiful area and a thoroughly relaxing trip, followed... More

A lovely little pootle in the solar powered catamaran around Chichester harbour. The talk was very informative and full of interesting facts. We did spot a seal but it didn't hang around, which was a shame! The quietness of the boat was a real bonus, we could talk amongst ourselves without having to shout over a noisy engine. Overall a... A very informative tour around Chichester Harbour. Mick the captain gave a comprehensive commentary throughout the trip with great knowledge of local history going back to Roman times, along with current trivia of famous residents who live around the harbour. His knowledge of wildlife pointing out various breeds of birds around the bay was worthwhile listening to and with binoculars... More

A great chance to see Chichester Harbour from the water - although it was a rainy day there was plenty of space under cover from which to enjoy the views. Interesting commentary - I learned a few new facts, including more about the boat itself, being solar-powered (yes, it even works when cloudy).

Thank you for your review. Pleased to hear that the commentary was useful. There are batteries on board the vessel that can store the electricity generated by the solar panels on the roof. More

Brilliantly organised trip aboard an ultra-quiet solar powered boat so we no disturbance to the wildlife. Lovely friendly skipper and crew, handing out life jackets as an extra layer to keep warm or to put on top of cold seats! Expert birder on board telling us what to look at and a lot about the species. We did it last... More

Bird-watching tour with experienced guide pointing the birds out to us and giving us much information about them. Not as many birds here this winter as usual thanks to the mild weather - there might be more in Jan and Feb if it gets colder. It was very helpful that there are spare binoculars to borrow if necessary.

We were amazingly lucky with the weather on the day we booked this tour. The first thing we noticed about the boat was how quiet it was and that added to the amazing journey...silently floating through the water spotting birds, sail boats, local landmarks and all the time having 2 amazing crew men to answer all our questions. We sailed... More

Jeremy Corbyn, Syria, decline of the steel industry. I needed a day away from everything and this was it. We were so lucky with the weather, a glorious October day. Staff polite and helpful. This hour long Solar Boat trip, organised by the Chichester Harbour Conservancy, concentrated on the history of the Emsworth Oyster Industry as a tribute to the late Linda Newell who was responsible for much of the research on behalf of the Emsworth Museum. A clear and interesting live commentary described the changing methods of oyster farming and the local shipbuilding... More
