Winding its way east from the town of La Baie-Saguenay to Saint-Siméon, La Route du Fjord runs parallel to the Saguenay River. It is one of the most beautiful stretches of highway in Eastern Canada. Traveling the road in fall, as we did, is pure bliss. For us, it is god's country. We will remember this year's foliage as one... More

The week long trip to this beautiful and peaceful area centered on the Fjords du Saguenay and of course, the Saguenay River that runs through these fjords. The Saguenay River can be viewed all along the Route du Fjords with breathtaking views along the way.

Cruised the Saguenay on Silversea in October. Scenery breathtaking, as foliage and sky cooperated to create a palate which could exist only in nature.

Although we were just a bit ahead of the autumn leaf change, our cruise up and down the Saguenay River fjord was lovely. Each bend brought a different enjoyable sight. Very quiet and unspoiled. Saw a few whale spouts which added to the day. The townspeople in the Port of Saguenay went above and beyond in hospitality. Dressed in period... More

The drive from Lac St Jean down the eastern side of the Saguenay River is the most scenic and peaceful drive in central / eastern Canada. Hills, forests, pristine lakes, no man made scars. Beautiful. I have lived in Colorado, Northern California and British Columbia so I know scenic drives. I also have lived in Ontario and Quebec for decades... More

The Saguenay has been called the Saguenay fjord in many websites. A little bit of a misnomer. If anyone goes to the Saguenay region expecting steeply rising cliffs both sides close to each other, providing a narrow passage for the river,, similar to ones in Norway or New Zealand, they will be disappointed. It definitely doesn't match up. BUT GO EXPECTING... More

The unspoilt natural beauty is breathtakingly beautiful. The Notre Dame du Saguenay statue with her story is moving to see. What a gorgeous river, and the little town of Saguenay came out to greet the Silver Whisper ship when we docked.

First it is important to note that we only traveled on the eastern side of the river/park and only spent parts of two days in the park. Second, and as far as I can tell this statement goes for the majority of Canadian National Parks, they are not like their counterparts in the United States. Depending on what you are... More
