We had not read the books or seen the movie but a friend had highly recommended the tour to us. We had some extra time after our visit to Trinity so decided to take the tour. We are so glad we did. The tour guide was passionate about her job and painted a vivid picture of what life was like... More

We have never seen the movie and were not really interested in seeing a movie set but most of the old or reconstructed buildings we had seen in Nfld were of the merchant set so we thought this would be a chance to see how the real people lived. We were not disappointed. The village is a glimpse into what... More

We had a fantastic guide named Dora who explained everything very clearly and with a great storytelling qualities! She larded her story with personal experiences and made our visit a great succes. It was fantastic to be inside the book. A stay of a morning or afternoon is advisable. Bring your camera.

My family took a chance on the out-of-the-way drive (not too bad) to see this film site replica of an old time Nfld fishing village during our vacation. We were met by a nice local lady who guided us through the site with delightful enthusiasm to explain the historical setting and the plot of the film series (which we hadn't... More

Fun and Interesting. Kids enjoyed the history. Gives a great idea to how Newfoundlanders lived in years gone by. Was previous a film set, however now is used as a tourist attraction.

While this is a recreated 'film set' you really do not to have seen the mini series or read the books to enjoy this place. It does give a glimpse into early outport life and the tour guides are great. A little off the beaten path but if you are going to the Trinity area this side trip is worth... More

We stumbled upon this and thought what the heck lets do it! So we went on the tour and it was fantastic! The guide made us feel like we were actually hearing a true story. The buildings and props are fantastic! Ok, I liked it so much I bought both the books to read!

this is one of my favourite spots in NL. Its so quiet and peaceful. I have never accompanied the tour (although I am sure it is amazing; non the less), but I have came here out of season to walk around and explore the area. Its an old TV mini series set, (Random Passage) .. its worth the drive down... More

I had already seen the movie series and read the book which made it more special for me to see the site. However, my husband and I were both interested to see and get a picture of how people who came to a gushing outport in Newfoundland in the 1800's may have lived and worked. Our tour guide, Dora, was... More

Well worth the visit. Gives a very good overview of life of early settlers. Dora was an excellent guide whose life experience in one of the resettlement villages was an added bonus. While this is not an "historic" site it is historically accurate.
