Probably the best botanical garden we have ever seen, and as a bonus, it was absolutely free. I wish we had all day here, we had a plane to catch and only had a couple hours.

The Butterflies in the Conservatory (tropical area) where just lovely and the orchid were so pretty. A lovely botanical gardens with good information. Cafe at the visitors center served nice food, limited and a little expensive. We walked from the center of Cairns, it was quite a way, but was well signposted along the boardwalk and then we missed the... More

A pleasant way to spend a couple hours if you have some extra time in Cairns. Take a taxi or 131 bus from town because it's a little too far to walk. Tropical plants, trails, and ponds with waterfowl. There's also a really nice screened in conservatory with butterflies. It's officially called Fletcher Botanical Gardens. I notice there are also... The gardens are relatively small which is great because you can spend a morning or an afternoon wandering through the delightfully cool tree lined walkways and know that you haven't missed anything. A small creek through the centre of the gardens runs during the wet summer months. After the early morning rain, droplets of water sparkle like diamonds in the... More

Just a beautiful interesting place to visit to see tropical plants and butterflies. Cafe ok but serves usual Nth Qld type coffee -- I.e. Slow to arrive, weak and too much milk!! Art places closed for some reason. Be sure to visit the netted greenhouse.

The Cairns Botanical Gardens is down the street from the other major botanic garden in the city but that’s okay because you can do both in one go. Lots of tropical plants, good walking paths, and the staff are great too plus the place is very well kept. Perfect place for a picnic.

We enjoyed a lovely morning walking the Cairns Botanical Gardens, so many flowering tropical plants to see and the beautiful butterflies and orchards to enjoy. Great plant & butterfly photography opportunities around the many tropical plants from around the world in the gardens. Plenty of seats around the pathways to just sit back and enjoy the garden, birds and butterflies... More
