I can't say enough positive things about this museum. It's by far one of the best in China, from what I've seen. The collection is exquisite and quite well-labeled in English. The grounds are quite lovely and well-maintained. It's not the easiest to access from Chengdu, but it can be done without grave difficulty. Buses run regularly to Guanghan from... More

This museum complex celebrates an ancient civilization (1500 BC - 700BC) which was only discovered in the 1980's. The museum sprawls in several buildings, one 'underground'. The latest in dramatic construction and display is represented here. The bronzes are some of the very impressive artifacts brilliantly lite in dark surroundings. The displays are awesome (as in awe inspiring). I suspect... More

Probably my favourite museum in China! The dark and gloomy atmosphere inside perfectly matched the greenish-golden bronze masks of this almost forgotten civilization. Discovered only in the 1980s, no historical record in the long dynastical history of China ever mentioned this stunning culture. Their aesthethics and form language seem to come from another galaxy! I just hope the museum preseverses... More

We visited this museum with a tour group from Chengdu. Very impressed that a culture so very different from the Chinese culture existed here. A tour guide was provided for our group who explained the main points of the exhibits to us. The exhibits are organized with detailed information on placards. Overall a very good visit & we plan on... More

Sanxingdui Museum is one of the most extraordinary museums in China. Not only does it boast a large number of amazing exhibits but also very impressively lit and designed galleries, which show the relics to wonderful effect. The first galleries show pottery and jade objects. These are interesting and well-displayed. However, the star here is the bronzes, which are world-class... More

This was the first time I was actually speechless when looking at artifacts in a museum. The Sanxingdui museum is set in a garden and composed of different rooms filled with excavated gold, jade and bronze artifacts from the capital city of the Shu Kingdom (ca. 1200-650 BCE). After the fall of this city, it is hypothesized that some of... More

三星堆遗址是四川省成都市特别著名的景点,位于中国西南部四川省成都市附近的广汉市。三星堆博物馆领土很大,但是只能参观两个陈列馆(综合馆和青铜馆)和祭祀台。 Sanxingdui is one of the ancient cultures which originated on the South-West of today's China. Originally, it was the site for sacrificial rituals of Shu people of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The Sanxingdui museum's territory is big, really enormous, but unfortunately there are only two exhibition pavilions and sacrifice stage. There are also car parking lot, VIP service building,... The museum is about 1 hours drive north east of chengdu. Offer it is bundled with a trip to the Panda Research zoo. The museum is really worth the trip. It has three large museum wings, each containing extraordinary artefacts, including a huge collection of fine jade ceremonial blades and weird bronze masks, from a civilisation thousands of years old.... This museum has lots of jade and bronze artefacts on display. Many don't have English translations. Our guide took us round and I think we could've seen it all much quicker - better to pick and choose what you are interested in. Good if weather is too hot or wet.
