The place is just outside town and when we went was a place to avoid the police who intrude on everyone in and around Kashi. Th place is an oasis of calm unlike some of the rest of Xingjiang

Don’t miss this place, and don’t be deterred by the entrance fee of 45 RMB... which drives many potential visitors away (good thing: you’ll have the place more or less for yourself). Some interesting insights...

Id Kah Mosque is not open for public. This turns to be a city park and a recreation place. So, on 13 April 2018 the children are playing soccer, riding horse, and playing skate. Some vendors sale plants, yogurt, and ice cream. .

This mosque is the largest in China and is extremely centrally located, right across the road from the night market and near old town. Accordingly, it is worth giving it a visit if you have time in the area. However, do not expect too much...More

While this is the largest mosque in China, I personally don't find it very intriguing. At times, you find worshippers are "outnumbered" by tourist groups. That being said, the mosque is situated in an area where many shops and restaurants are frequented by locals. It...More

The Id Kah Mosque is easy to find if you are exploring part of the Old Town. It is the heart of Muslim prayer and worship in the area and can accommodate up to 50,000 in the peaceful outdoor areas which is shaded by trees.

For 45 RMB to enter it does not offer a lot. The prayer hall was small and the grounds were restful - which is about as good as it got. Only worth visiting if, like me, you had an hour to spend and nothing better...More

this mosque is in the centre of the old town of Kashgar. The outside is a nice colour however theres not much to see in the grounds or inside as some rooms are roped off but its worth a visit.

The Idgah sqaure is almost the city center. The building main gate is surprisingly located on the left outer corner. Usually all mosques have it in the middle. After the main gate there are courtyards. Main hall is simple and beautiful. Entrance is not free.
