Crossing by ferry from Xiamen, China was fast and easy. Isaac from the travel information counter where the ferry arrived was great: spoke fluent English, arranged for a taxi to take us to the main attractions at a reasonable price before catching the afternoon flight to Taipei. Unique historical sites, lush scenery and friendly people make this island a recommended... More

The Quemoy Crisis of 1958 was a bloody confrontation between Mao's Commiunists and the Nationalists led by Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek. It might have set off World War III. Now Kinmen, as Quemoy is now called, is peaceful butit's well worth a visit. You can travel by bus, it's a small island. Kinmen is famous for its bird life, get up... More

I was luckily enough to be taken to Kinmen by the Taiwan military and given a tour. It's a lovely place and very unspoilt, seeing is believing. You have the beauty of the island (you should go up the mountain) and the history of the place . Visit the place where they take the shells sent over from the mainland... More

Had to visit here on business and was luckily allowed to be shown around by the General in charge of the island. It is an unspoilt ( from tourism ) wonder, full of history and ideal for a long weekend whilst visiting Taiwan . Visit the liqueur factory it's an excellent trip but watch out its strong stuff. Also visit... More

History lovers would love this place - considering the many events that happened between China and Taiwan. The island is quiet and peaceful. It's much easier to get to the island via Xiamen than Taiwan island itself.

Visit the island for the very first time and I fall in love with it!! The island makes lots of effort to make people can enjoy their visiting. But it's better to arrange your own transportation like rent the motor or car as its not easy to get the cab on the island. Too bad it rains pretty heavy during... More

The island has plenty of charm but a lack of infrastructure, just 2 buses a day on tourist routes. Hire a moped for more enjoyment
