Mine host suggested this as an ideal place to wind down and they were right. Well sign posted to get there and very well looked after. BBQs, shelters, toilets and lots of well placed benches to sit and just soak in the view. Boardwalk was...More

Great facilities - newish toilets and carpark, seats and bbq shelters in a couple of locations with the reserve. Paths solid and well maintained. Information boards (with bird list) and signposts. There are four or five different bodies of water easily accessible by the network...More

We enjoyed walking along the rainforest boardwalk and around the wetlands. At the time of day we visited, it was a little bright/glary for photography but there was plenty of birdlife and interesting flora to enjoy.

This wetland north of Cairns is a great spot for a peaceful walk or a BBQ, there are toilets n plenty of parking, not well advertised but it is free n very interesting, particularly liked the rain forest boardwalk

We stumbled on these wetlands in Smithfield, a northern suburb of Cairns. So serene, with accessible walks, bird hides and beautiful lakes. We were there on a Wednesday, so few visitors, but amenities such as BBQ areas and toilets makes us think it is very...More

This used to be a sugarcane field back in the days and has now been reclaimed and turned in to wonderful wetlands. Free admission but no public transport so you will need a car to get there. We went in April and unfortunately didn’t see...More
