This quarry is where the Nazis shot 27 hostages in reprisal during WW2. The read leading to it (beside the main road to Pouancé) is named after them. It is set out in groups with soil from France built into each one. Limited parking (free)...More

At the entrance to the quarry they have now erected a series of explanatory panels in addition to the already useful speaker (in French, English & German) explaining its history. A good path leads in to the quarry and it is easy access by wheelchair....More

They have now made the roadside parking much safer and prevented overtaking along this stretch. A short walk down to the old, disused quarry which is now a memorial cemetery.
