Mahabalipuram is one amazing structure after another; this is no exception and is yet another must see! This temple, accessed from the main road, is filled with yet more beautifully intricate carvings that are well worth seeing.

This is a small manadapa like monolithic structure, situated near the Arjuna's penance. This manadapa houses tales associated with Lord Krishna such as his playful childhood pastimes. Very well maintained and beautiful carvings.

During our full day sightseeing trip to Mahabalipuram from Chennai, we had visited this amazing site located right beside Pancha Pandav Mandap and Arjuna Penance in the complex maintained by Archeological Survey. This is one of the biggest and best Mandap since the sculptures were detailed and lively. We saw beautiful rock cut sculptures of Lord Krishna lifting Govardhan hill.... More

From Outside, it seems to be a normal cave. But there is beautiful carving inside. It is near Arjuna's Penance. From left side of this cave, you can climb up to reach Raya Gopura.

We visited last week at this place. The place was very nice and you can see the art by artisans. But Some people they used pens and paints they wrote their names and Draw Heart Symbol. The damaging the place slowly. Govt should take action for that.

This mandapam is adjacent to the Arjuna's penance and the structure is equally covered in carvings. Close observation will reveal the intricate details in the carvings.

Stone carving architecture at this famous Mahabalipuram site, just beside Arjuna's penance. Try when the light is just right with a low raking Sun,to get the most of the stone carvings. Harsh top Sun will have deeper shadows. A magnificent piece of old architecture which is thronged by tourists the whole year round. All of this tour was done by me... More

Some of the finest Pallave reliefs along the rear wall (it was originally a free-standing rock carving like the nearby Arjuna's penance). It faces East, so best light is early morning when the sun is low (and also the crowds absent).
