This is another casualty in the continuing war against authenticity that China is waging. They tear down hutong to replace them with charmless shopping malls. They built tourist traps in place of historic sights (I'm talking about you Cultural Street in Tianjin). Here they plastered a mountain with concrete to make it unnatural. But once you get past that, the... More

Perfect time of the year to enjoy the changing colors of the leaves. I was impressed by the cleanliness. They have created the site and installed garbage cans everywhere and it works. The waterfalls, peaks and valleys are always revealing a new place to look at, a new natural detail. Very beautiful and a lot of fun for a great... More

Mount Pan is a nice two hours drive from Tianjin city, with plenty of farm stays in the area. Temperature is nice and cool during the hot summer, averaging 21 - 22 degrees Celsius in the daytime. I enjoyed the delicious meals offered at the farm stay, prepared by the owners using organic / free range produce farmed by themselves.... More

Could barely hear the nature as all we could hear were people talking. It was difficult to make our way up to the mountain as... More

Although not terrible, Panshan was a disappointment. A lot of the climb involves pushing your way past other tourists as you pass many recently man-made temples and pavilions. The higher you climb, the more natural it becomes and the better your experience becomes. The views from the higher points of the mountain are the highlights. The entrance fee of 100... More

Enjoyed it. A traditional mountain in China, stone steps & bush paths, foot bridges, temples & little kiosks selling cold things in the summer heat.. Stalls at the car park sell little touristy things, a reasonable restaurant & rides for the gondola & RV rides up the mountain. From the Gondola it's an easy walk down through temples & sheltered...
