We spent an interesting hour here being shown how they make rum and tasting the different types made. The restaurant looked lovely although we had been elsewhere as part of our tour. They have only been making rum there for seven years but seem to have made it into a successful tourist destination also. We bought a bottle of rum... More

A very interesting tour of the local distillery within a beautiful setting. Sadly however, you're reminded regularly how hard the locals work for poor pay and how their hard work results in a variety of high priced rum. Some quality gifts in the gift shop for a small fee that enables you to give your hard working tour guide a... More

Sitting in the hills just outside of Chamarel, the Rhumerie de Chamarel cuts an impressive figure over looking some truly stunning scenery. The distillery is a very professional operation and manages a good balance between its historic roots and a modern business and tourist attraction. It is about 375MUR to get in and this includes the tour and a generous... More

My wife and I walked here from our hotel a little over half an hour away. Having no preconceived idea of what we would find, we were delighted to find somewhere so clean and modern. We arrived in time for lunch having been told that if you have lunch then the tour and the tasting are included in the price.... More

Set in a beautiful location and a beautiful building, it looks very grand set into the mountain. The tour itself was quite informative but quite rushed once it had started. They do it in different languages, the French group set out slightly before us which was fine. It then further on we couldn't really hear our guide as we could... More

The tour was good with plenty of information about the process of rum-making provided. It is true as a recent reviewer has said that there is not much to see unless they are actually harvesting sugarcane and producing rum (we went at the wrong time of year), however, it is definitely worth a visit as it is a beautiful place.... We visited this place as one stop of a day trip. It was a fine refreshment, the garden is lovely, tour was interesting, the guide warm and friendly, rum - like rum. Only one thing which we did not like was food. Chicken curry was far below our expectation.

Disappointing tour. The guide was extremely friendly and nice but the overall tour is boring. The place is located in a beautiful area but that's it. Although there must be a million sugar canes around the building they showed us a couple of paintings how the sugar canes look like and the different types, I almost burst into laughter. I... More

We went for lunch with our children ages 7 and 4 and the lunch was delicious. Although it was a little pricey the rhum tour and tasting was included. The tour and tasting were great and it was interesting to hear they use all of the sugar cane to harvest the rhum. The grounds are beautiful and it's well worth... More
