Rude encounter with receptionist
Dec 2020 • Family
Resort is nice but I am giving 1 star due to the behaviour of receptionist. Very rude!!
Another advice, Dont book executive rooms!

Cheched-in on 24-Dec in 3 executive rooms with friends and family, and the view is not good. When informed receptionist, she made me wait for 30 mins at reception without saying anything, and later rudely said that there is no other room available.

A beautifull view over the Kedah paddy fields and sea side
Nov 2019
Driving upwards along the narrow road that winds itself up to the summit at about 1000 metre above sealevel, we met a couple of monkeys eating fruits, leaves and nuts from the jungle trees. At the top of the mountain is a hotel restaurant/resort. The restaurant has a nice terrace with view over the paddy fields and the sea side of Kedah. The waitres serves drinks and snacks as well as pastries. The restaurant of the hotel offers a lunch and dinner buffet, style Malay. About 100 metre from the restaurant is a botanical garden, but not very well maintained. Walking down hill along a steep trail leads to a beautifull waterfall. On the way down we saw many butterflies and birds. It is worthewhile to visit this Gunung Jerai mountain.

Ideal for nature-based activities
Nov 2018
Gunung Jerai is Kedah's oldest hill resort and recreational park. Standing at 1,200m above sea level, this legendary mountain is also the highest peak in Kedah. Resort accommodation is located atop the hill. It has a good climate where the temperature ranges between 19 to 21 degrees Celsius.

You can choose to cycle up, drive up yourself, rent a van or hike up. I just used my own car to climb to the top of Jerai. The 10km drive up the mountain was steep and dangerous at some points when the road became too narrow.

The view on top was breathtaking. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and nearby islands. We can learn lots of valuable knowledge about herbal plants grow wild here. In addition, the mountain and its surroundings are ideal for nature-based activities such as hiking, camping and mountain biking.

Great experience with mount Jerai aka Kedah Peak
Sep 2019 • Family
Can consider for family trip, good place for gathering a day trip or overnight accommodation. Can drive all the way up to top but watch out on some hairpin bends which looks dangerous but still manageable with careful drive. Great view from top with wide paddy field with sea side by side. May plan for early or late visit for sunrise and sunset view. Awesome trip.

There is a great view of the sea and padi fields. There's also some flowers and a forestry museum. Supposedly we heard there was a botanical garden but when we were there, it was closed and in a state of disrepair.
Compared to Cameron Highlands or Genting Highlands, there's not much to do and food options are limited.

Relaxing and chill
Aug 2019 • Family
Went up to the mountain in car early morning at 7am, paid RM3 for car to be paid inside. It was really nice and relax due to the cold breeze and friendly staff. We spent the whole morning chilling there and been to the cafe to have some drink. The coffee is not bad.

*Outside food not allowed.

Gunung Jerai
Jul 2019 • Friends
Gunung Jerai or Kedah Peak is a stunning place of historic, geological, zoological interests as well as being a great place for relaxing with friends and family. The views and facilities of the Gunung Jerai Resort near the peak of the mountain are fabulous and there are plenty to entertain children as well as adults. Cascading waterfalls, never-ending jungle walks, mountain biking, padi fields and even a trip to the seaside are all available. The people of Kedah are wonderfully friendly and we were made to feel so at home everywhere we went.

Beautiful peak with a good resort
Mar 2019 • Couples
Visited mount jerai after staying very close by for many years.. its an hours drive from Sungai Petani. U can either park your car and take a van up till the peak(10 RM per person) or drive up yourself. We drove up in our own car, nothing difficult but keep caution on the hairpin bends(many) and make sure your brakes r in good shape. There is a nice resort at the peak with a good coffee shop n restaurant. Also a botanical garden. Very peaceful n serene place. Good for a day trip or a few days at the resort. We just stayed for few hours.

Best Biking Trail
Dec 2017 • Friends
Went for a bike trip with my friends. Uplift service is available but need to arrange with the local bike community. Look for Lont or Nasron.

Trail is full with roots. Full suspension bike is suitable for this trail.

The height of Mount Jerai relative to its surroundings allowed Indian traders and seafarers to use the mountain as a navigational point more than 1500 years ago. The mountain was considered sacred by the ancient Malays so they built temples from the foothills up to the summit. Hindu-Buddhist priests would pray at these stupas for the safety of Bujang Valley, the richest archaeological site in Malaysia located on the southern reaches of the mountain.
