This is so much better than Chaweng beach. It is much quieter, it is very clean (it was when we were here but I did read a review from someone else who experienced it differently) and the sea has, in my opinion, a gentle slope so you have to go 30 yards before it is up to your waistline. We were at the Seaview restaurant. It was excellent food and good Vue for money. The staff are amazing. We got to use their sun loungers on the beach after lunch but we also bought drinks all afternoon as to not abuse the hospitality too much.

I walked almost the whole distance from one end of the beach to the other, making several stops for a swim.
Beautiful and clean beach, not busy at all. Very relaxing and with possibilities to find a shadow under a coconut tree.

Clean , beautiful. One of the best beaches in Koh Samui imo. Sun rise is especially beautiful. Definitely a must visit when on the island. Private access if you stay at Santiburi resort.

Maenam Beach is my favorite place in Koh Samui. If you dont know where to stay, you should definitely try this place. The village is local and lively . We stayed at Khwan Beach resort and we really enjoyed our stay

Clean sandy Beach, many resorts and restaurants. The beach is long enough for a run or a walk. Pets can easily roam. Reallt great sunsets every night. Water is safe to swim in, no rough waves. Usually a nice constant breeze.

I clearly do not understand those that say that this beach is beautiful. The only thing that I found nice was that it was quiet.
Apart from this it was a deserted beach, left at its own luck, full of garbages, plastic bottles, many dry and cutted trees and the sea completely foggy and dirty.
A total dissapointment for the area although I understood that everything should be good long time agao but now not.

First time in Koh Samui horrible iseland dirty stinky and expensive ..We stayed at the Sensimar Koh samui hotel is great but go outside and you are in a different world ..like others mentions the water is murky and dirty and full with garbage...we went to chaweng beach same problems there and overcrowded...we will never ever travel to Thailand again the people are also not friendly they only want your money or they try to rip you off ...like we did the snorkeltour to Koh Tao omg horrible full tourist trap thousands of Chinese people iseland dirty and stinky do yourself a favor an travel elsewhere maybe then they change and stop destroying there nature...we where shocked.

Peaceful and clean. I love the way the restaurants have maintained this beach. Is the cleanest and most peaceful beach in Samui

I am always of the opinion that Maenam Beach has much to offer. There is no contest. It is never crowded and you can enjoy some solitude away from the maddening crowds of Chaweng and Lamai beaches. It's easy to keep an eye on the kids as there are fewer people about and the water is mostly calm.. Looking out over the ocean to Koh Panyang and the small boats passing in between is a very pleasant and soothing sight. In the cooler part of the afternoon there are some fishermen trowing nets and catching some small fish. The kids have fun wirh this as it is basically shoreline fishing and Thais love kids so the fishermen allow them to see what is happening. We like to take a little picnic and plenty of water and just lie out on the sand occassionally going back into the shade of the coconut trees. No need to worry about going hungry as there are little bamboo eateries dotted about. In any case old ladies straddle up and down the beach and sell their cooked chicken and deliciously prepared papaya salad. Am going for a quick splash in the water. It is all very nice and the feeling is as if you have the beach all to yourself.

We chose Maenam to avoid the craze of Chaweng etc. That the beach would be quite as deserted and desolate did come as a surprise though. Also, the beach is quite narrow and construction has come way too close to the water so the tiny strip of beach that is left gets flooded all the time. The beach is quite steep as well, so totally unsuited for children. We're both 190+ and were unable to stand 1-2m into the water.

подскажите, где купить фрукты тут? обошли все вокруг, 7/11 магазинов штук пять попалось, а тележки с фруктами ни одной.
Written 20 January 2019

Hello, Lovely photo, are those private sunbeds or can you hire them, if so where can you hire them and what part of the beach. I would like to visit but would need sunloungers/umbrella.
Written 9 April 2018
The sunbeds are from a private resort. I think that you can hire them there. Most things are available in Thailand, if you have money. Just ask.

Bonjour

Belles vacances

Hi there, my husband and I would like to know if Maenam would be a better and quieter option for a few days after attending the full moon party or should we stay on koh phangan? Which would be more relaxing. Apart from the party we like clear waters and quiet beaches within easy reach of a few Thai eateries and maybe a market to mooch around. Also is it easy to navigate the island to sightsee? Thanks for any help available. Sandra.
Written 4 February 2018
Hi Sandra: I am having "technical, TripAdvisor" problems responding--- but I will try one last time.... Having stayed on Koh Samui [KS] for 2 weeks, I can readily attest that one can aggressively relax... or "just let it happen"....
We stayed very close to "Dramatically lovely" Lanai beach SW part of KS.... as we had a car [we drove from Penang, Malaysia] we visited many parts of KS. I walked on the beach for 90-150 minutes... and it was great. As there are many restaurants, one can easily find neat, off the beaten track restaurants. There are busses which can take one almost everywhere.
I hope that this was helpful....
