The place had been closed for a couple of years, with no imminent plans of re-opening!!! Not a great pub when it was open anyway, it'll not be missed!

Popped in here to meet my parents on a Saturday afternoon. Music was pretty loud and the place was quite busy. Good range of beers and they seemed to have lots of offers on for shots. We made the mistake of sitting near the jukebox which seemed to attract customers who liked swearing. I asked one guy to stop swearing as my parents don't like it and nor did my young son, in fairness he initially apologised but came back with a stupid response saying there were other adults in the pub as if that in some way made okay to use the F and C word as adjectives!! This is more of a place to visit with your mates rather than family. We had one drink and left, unlikely to return.…

The staff are as rough and rude as I've ever seen. They'd run out of Guinness when I first got in. After 15 minutes after being ignored at the bar I was asked to leave for not ordering a drink!! Just a horrendous place and a horrible experience. Part of the problem was the regular punters who are loud and obnoxious pushing in front and being preferred by the staff. All round an awful place.…

Hi Ashley, I'm sorry to hear you were not happy with the level of service at The Abbot. In regards to your visit there were a couple of points I feel I should address to make sure, should you visit again, you are less frustrated and understand how things work in our pub. The football is shown for paying customers and not general members of the public who wish to watch. We do not offer table service as we do not sell food, so any drinks must be ordered at the bar. When at the bar, it is our aim to serve each customer in turn. However during football games and with limited staff, you may have to wait to be served. We do not permit individuals to remain in the pub to watch the football if they are not buying any of our products and this was why you were asked to leave, repeatedly, by the manager. We will aim to ensure there is always Guinness available but we are sorry we fell short this time. Thank you for taking the time to leave your opinion of The Abbot, I'm glad we could address the issues you raised. Many thanks and have a good Christmas.

A nice pub to pop in to when you are out for a days shopping. They are great at showing the footie or rugby games as well.
