Beautiful location
Jul 2018 • Friends
Being a ski lodge in winter, it is a beautiful spot. In summer the chair lift does NOT run, and there are very limited activities for children, but a couple of restaurants were fine, and if you have a car several very good restaurants quite nearby, and many places to see about 30 min down the mountain - total of an hour's drive.

Summer time
Jun 2018
We went there in the Summer, In the summer they have the grass skiing world championships
We had the great views, clear morning and the resort was quiet, we had fun and the rooms were great, the great coffee shop is small but you can get anything you want, The pizza at the resort is great

Not recommended between seasons
Mar 2017 • Couples
We have just spent a week at La Spalza using 1 of our CLC weeks, booking through Interval. When we arrived on Saturday it looked good. The ski lifts were working and there were quite a few people skiing. The bars and restaurants were open, as was the small grocery store. However from Tuesday everything came to a halt. The ski lifts stopped and all the restaurants on site closed! While we did not come to ski, it meant that we were forced to drive down the mountain everyday. The most disappointing part of this is that we were not told that this would be the case.
The apartment was clean and reasonably equipped, although as a CLC customer, not of the standard I would have expected. The buildings need repair, gutters broken and some windows broken.
On a positive note the views from the apartment were spectacular and I can see that in the ski season it would be ideal, especially for families.

One week in Residence La Splaza 2016.07.02-2016.07.09
Jul 2016 • Couples
We spent a week in Residence la Splaza with family in the beginning of July 2016 through Interval International. The Residence is at the top of a mountain and quite far from the valley (about 30 minutes driving time), so it was inconvenient to drive up and down every day. Our apartment was very basic. There was a living room, two bedrooms, but one of the bedroom was divided only with a curtain from the living room. There wasn't any microwave in the apartment, and no cleaning during our stay. Unfortunately the mountain lift was out of order, we would have made a day trip at the mountain if it had worked. It wasn't easy to communicate with the receptionost, as he didn't speak any foreign languages. And the pros: there was a playroom with billiard, table tennis and table football. There were a supermarket and restaurants at the bottom of the residence, so we could buy all of the foods and drinks we needed. The view was very beautiful.
I wouldn't recommend this place for the summer, but in the winter it can be a good choice, when all the facilities are working.

Internet description totally wrong. Swimming pool derelict and has been for a few years. Room clean but basic.Corridors, matting very worn. The mainly Italians staying there seemed happy enough.Very large complex in a wonderful location. No onsite restaurant but a few decent eateries within 10 minute walk.A very long and tortuous drive down into valley. Would not want to drive it in winter, as a ski resort this when most people would want to go.Cannot recommend.

Best for sunny day

30 km of slopes are not bad being all different types. Backcountry, trees and slopes, nice landscapes and various terrain, maybe the skipass is too expensive for the level of the lifts, bit old.

Good weekend resort
Unless you are a beginner, you wouldn't want to come here for a whole week. But for a couple of days it is perfect. The resort is priced very competitively and the slopes are challenging enough for most standards.

In February the altitude is perfect. High enough for good snow and low enough to avoid completely freezing on the peaks. I look forward to my next visit.

The only downside is that the mountain restaurants are rather basic for leisurely skiers.

Good place for ski just 2 hours from Milano
Feb 2015 • Couples
We have been there on the fourth week of February and stayed at the Spaza Apartments. The review is for the Montecapione Resort area and not a specific lodging resort. The resort is not a big one but very nice for intermidiate skiers that look for relaxed skiing. Lot of off-piste activity even if not "authorized". Very nice place if you are not an achiever. Mostly red runs with very few blue and black. Most of the pists have snow canons so one can expect resoneable skiing conditions even with no snowfall (we were lucky to have great snow and good weather). An advantage is the short distance from Milano- 2 hours drive- lless than half the time than Tonale of Madonna and much safer driving in inclemet weather.
The reservations we have are the very limited facilities at the resort and minimal opening hours- pharmacy open Saturday and Sunday only for limited hours, the butcher likewise, indoor pool inactive, doctor with a midday siesta, several mini markets open daily long hours but limited choices. The nearest place is Pian Camuno 11km and 14 very sharp turns downhill. (would reccomend visiting the Migros supermarket at the entrance to Pian Camuno before going up). That is the reason for the average rating rather that very good.
Several bars around and nice restaurants (would reccomend Legazzuolo restaurant at 1200m).
If you do not ski there is really nothing much to do there other than enjoy the really magnificent view. Also worth mentioning that the prices (lodging, food, drinks, restaurants, ski pass) are on the low side, very reasoneable.
As a side note: cobsider visiting Darfo Boario Terme (8km north to Pian Camuno). Not cheap at all, but nice complement to skiing.

Fantastic option for a quick cheap and cheerful ski holiday, check conditions before booking.
Mar 2014 • Friends
I had some really great quick & cheap ski trips in Montecampione, love the place. I need to go back. You can stay at 1200 or 1800 or down in the village. I recommend 1800 when you know there will be snow. Montecampione is the type of ski trip you can book at short notice so you can take a look to see if there's snow forecast. We fly out Thurs morn early to Milan Bergamo (one time when it's a plus that Ryanair don't fly anywhere near advertised city) and we are on the slopes but 12.30 for a half day ski. Then you can return the Mon/Tues.
The hotel at 1800 is 1970/60s retro old school but if you have a group of 5+ it's great fun. The restaurants/accom/ski hire is all right there, you dont leave except to ski during your trip.
As for the skiing, if you are searching for extreme conditions and constant new slopes Montecampione isn't for you. Its a great beginners place and great for ski addicts of all levels who want something quick and cheap.
Don't go for 7 days but certainly go for 3 or 5 mays days!

It was actually 2010/11 last time I was there! Really really need to go back.
