We saw this natural oddity from the air while landing and it is even more spectacular up close with the opening to the caldera lagoon facing the village (great protection from the swells) and amazingly sheer exterior walls and adjacent pillars of rock. The ferry...More

I read mixed reviews on this place but we went at the beginning of September and had no problem getting a ticket for the boat and going over. It really is a cool place to visit, I have certainly never swam in a volcanic crater...More

This is a magical spot to swim and snorkel, there isn't anything in the way of shade or to but food and drinks so bring what you need along with you in the boat.

The islet can be reached via a small boat that leaves every hour from the marina in Vila Franca. It is really beautiful and a wonderful place for swimming or snorkeling. If you plan to stay longer just remember to bring food and drinks and...More

Inside the island the depth varies from ankle deep to 7 foot deep ish in a small area. There were plenty of fish inside and out. Saw a load of barracuda outside the island too. Be warned. There are scorprion fish inside. They are the...More

This is just one of those pictures you need to get to say you have seen it with your own eyes. Had time been on our side, we would have liked to spend some time there!

Take the boat from the harbour in town. It's only a 10 minute trip and costs 5 euro each. The boat leaves once an hour or whenever the boat is full. The lagoon is very shallow so don't expect spectacular snorkeling but it's fun to...More

We had an amazing trip here. Definitely show up early (around 9-930) if you can't get the online tickets to work, because they will sell out at some point. We rented snorkeling gear from a very friendly shop on the marina for 5 euros a...More

The islet is a true gem. It is beautiful and it also provides a natural shelter from the sea waves. Getting to it is a bit of a challenge. Because of its status, there are only 400 tickets per day available to access it by...More

I think so. The islet is never closed as such. It is just the matter of the little boat wherher is working or not. That is the only option to get to the islet
