This is a livery garden away from the hustle and bustle around the perimeter. As usual irritating special (much more special) price for tourists. Came to search area and found my full rucksack - with macs for forecast rain- was waved through. It appears this is to check students bringing in their books when 'off' school! A new one on... More

What a place...it's a must to visit. I visited on my own because my hubby was ill but felt completely safe. The orchid house was spectacular and the whole park pristine.

Majestic park with many interesting, pretty and exciting trees and plants. Only the spice garden was dissapointing. Check the trees along the memorial, where many fampus people - and even Gagarin have planted trees.

We particularly liked the Orchid House but the giant Bamboo was great It was very hot but there was some shade as you walk around. Early morning would be the best time to visit We stayed an hour and a half but you could easily spend half a day The toilets at the cafe were much cleaner and more comfortable... More

I go visit the Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens by bus (RS 16). It's a WHOLE 5 kms. away, yet it takes 45” to get there. Kandy traffic is horrendous! In 2010 it cost foreigners RS 600. Now it's toll is RS 1500. I spent 4 hours & 15” there just like last time. It takes 45” to get back to... More

Like a tropical version of Kew. Wonderful old trees, lots of space. People enjoying picnics and ganes of cricket. A good cafe. A very enjoyable quiet space amidst the hurly burly of Kandy

We were three adults with a love for nature but constrained by time. So we booked a golf cart...the large one. The smaller one was not free. There was no guide immediately available so the driver chipped in. This was a good decision. In one hour we covered everything; Flying foxes, monkeys and fountain map of Sri Lanka included. Then after... More

This is a beautifully laid out and calm gardens, with lots of plants and greenhouses to see. We liked the orchid house, where a chap told us all the names or the different orchids, and were sorry to have missed the cactus house which had shut 10 mins before. The bamboo was amazing, such a huge scale. The thing we... More
