Fantastic garden , had excellent collection of different type of plants. It has an orchid collection but i found that average, Overall this garden is worth a visit. To cover whole garden at least 2 hours are required . If some one is going to this garden with small kids then it is better to take a stroller as kids... More

A must see in Kandy, alone worth the trip. Beautifully arranged botanical garden set in a suburb of Kandy you will see the astonishing bamboo gardens, the avenues with imposing trees, the beautiful lawns and flowers. One of the best botanical gardens I have seen, with good descriptions , facilities and impeccably mantained.

A fantastic experience in paying "white people tax" to see an average park. First of all we qued in the tourist ticket que to pay the "bargain" amount of 1500 rupees each to see a few trees. We then found some cows- one of the park workers clearly thought we were incompetent and couldn't see them, so showed us them?!?!... More

Good place for a day picnic. Carry your food and enjoy a sunny or cloudy day walk in the park. Nice place for pictures too.

I was visiting the gardens after about 20 years. It did not live up to my expectations and memories. Requires more effective TLC.

As a local the entrance fee is negligible. 2& 1/2 hrs at a leisurely pace with a picnic stop and we didn't even cover half. the diversity is amazing, Grass to Bamboo, Orchids to palms. Ancient giants to pygmy bushes... Could be better maintained, but would require an army! Easily accessible by public transport, 15 min out of Kandy by... More

There are many features that make this botanical garden stand out from others: the trees planted at the circle by international dignitaries and royalty; the orchid collection; the bats in the trees and the map of Sri Lanka made out of water and plants. Take the bus ... it's worth it.

These gardens are extensive and extremely well kept. A highlight for us was the orchid house with many beautiful blooms. There is plenty of space to get away from others even when it is busy. We had a nice pot of tea exquisitely served in the cafe overlooking the Great Lawn. Most impressive of all were the thousands of bats... More

The botanical garden is very nice, we spent the entire day just wandering around and relaxing on the great lawn. Would give it five points were it not for the entrance fee which is a bit steep for foreigners. The garden is easily accesible by bus from Kandy, stops right outside the entrance.

Instead of an hour we spent more than two, almost three hours in this beautiful garden with really old and huge trees, bamboos, flours and whatever you might like about a botanical garden. And it is great for using a camera with a macro lens for all the blossoms... Don't go there in a rush! As we decided to spend... More
