We enjoyed a guided tour in Hillsborough castle. The rooms looked stunning, the explainer had a good sense of humour and it was interesting to hear a little bit about hustiry and modern life of royals. After tour we walked around beautiful gardens.

This was just a beautiful Castle. It is easy to drive to as it is well signposted. We went on a guided tour. It was 10 Pounds entrance per adult, which was well worth it. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There were only 6 people in our group and we were able to ask questions at any time.... More

Only fault was that we didn't have enough time to explore the beautiful gardens in full with the rhododendron in full bloom the lakes the winding paths could spend all day there. We did the tour of the castle and I just loved it to stand and sit where the royal family have sat. Their family photos on the piano.... More

Who'd have thought that a working royal palace would be so accessible to the public - albeit via booked visit. We are escorted through the State Rooms by a well informed member of staff who carefully explains all the historical moments associated with the Castle. The Drawing Room is actually used by The Queen so my fingerprints have overlaid hers... More

One day last spring we started out with a visit to the Giant's Ring followed by a pilgrimage to the war memorial in Hillsborough village (to pay my respects to my G/Grandfather whose name is engraved on it) and whilst there we took the opportunity to tour Hillsborough Castle and gardens - what a privilege! As a child growing up... More

I was very excited to learn Hillsborough Castle was open to visitors. It's a beautiful place, and our guide, Elizabeth, did a superb job. She combined history with anecdote, was immensely knowledgeable and approachable, spoke clearly and managed the group well. We were able to sit on the sofas and chairs, which somehow made it more special. I'd go back.... More

Unfortunately we were unable to visit Hillsborough Castle as it was closed today. It looks impressive and will shall return to take the tour. It is the official residence of the Queen in Northern Ireland and the venue for the signing of the Anglo Irish peace agreement in 1985. Hillsborough was a small market town and is now a commuter... Our guide was very knowledgeable of all aspects of the history of the castle. She also added a bit of light hearted banter so it didn't feel like a history lesson. My American guests were very impressed
