I did a tour with a local Mayan independent guide, Pastor. You can contact him at pastorcaamal@gmail.com. He was very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora and skilled at spotting wild life. We were able to find manatees, crocodiles, stingrays, osprey eagle nest and a wide range of different birds, which he knows all by name in English and Spanish.... More

We hired a local guide for the one day tour departing from our resort in Playa del Carmen. The two way ride was much longer than we anticipated: 1 hr from Playa del Carmen to Tulum where the entrance to the biosphere is located, followed by another hour of extremely bumpy and slow ride inside the park before our arrival... We contacted Pastor by email as previous review. Lovely gentle informative guide took the 2 hour boat trip which includes floating down the channel. Great fun! We didn't see many birds or flowers but still an interesting trip. prices vary a little but paying guides was way cheaper than price quoted by out hotel.

We took the shorter boat tour , which was private with just three of us in our party (200 pesos per person). The tour was about two hours. The very best part, most exciting and fun, was a floating swim thru fresh water marsh. It was so beautiful, serene and special. I cannot say enough about the experience. Our tour... More

My wife and I were staying in Puerto Morelos and decided to take a day trip to Tulum. After exploring the ruins and going down to the beach we decided to drive around and explore some more. We stumbled by mistake to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. We drove for a while and discovered that the roads are a very... More

My wife and I hiked in after visiting the Mayan ruins at Muyil. Enjoyed climbing the lookouts and viewing the jungle and lagoon. Although we didn't take one of the boats out, those who did seemed to have a great time. This is an easy self directed trip if you have a car.

One of the best excursions that we did on our trip. Our guide, Alex, was very fun and informative. We saw manatees and crocodiles, as well as a beautiful virgin beach. The float through the canal was the best part. I would highly recommend checking this out if you have the time.
