This enormous building in Neogothic style looks like a modern cathedral and represents the central point for Catholicism in Argentina. People come here to pray and worship the Virgin, patron saint of the country. Although modern it has a sense of grandeur and the number of pilgrims, some of them arriving on their knees, makes this temple an impressive sight... More

The Basilica of Our Lady of Luján is situated in the town of Luján some 40 miles to the west of the city of Buenos Aires. It's built in neogothic style, which contrasts sharply with the Spanish style of the surrounding buildings. The basilica is dedicated to Our Lady of Luján, patron saint of Argentina. Legend has it that a... More

Great spot to spend 30 minutes and appreciate the architecture. The stray dogs wandering around are an interesting addition.

Our lovely host from Rosa Isabel Estancia took us here for a visit, it was only a short drive away from their ranch in Lujan. The church is a magnificent building, the architecture is simply stunning. Not to be missed

It is such a beautiful Cathedral, an amazing building so rich in history that it really worth the visit. It is such a shame that the surroundings are abandoned, no maintenance at all, you really feel unsafe in the neighborhood. But it worth it...

This basilica is reminiscent of the beautiful cathedrals around South America and Europe. Its size is impressive. You can walk through it at your own pace, enjoying the architecture, stained glass windows and a beautiful representation of a black Jesus on the cross - a striking work of art. The area around the cathedral is heavily commercialized with two small... More

I travelled to Lujan yesterday with my Argentine wife (we live in Capital Federal) to take Mass since it was the first anniversary of her mother's death. It is a huge, beautiful basilica, built in a Neo-Gothic style in 1890 with lots of stained glass windows People travel from all over Latin America to visit and partake in a service,... More
