Namche is a “cross roads” to various trekking locations. It is a large village with lots of shops to purchase gear, food, etc. A great place to stay is Khumbu Resort at the top of Namche. It is a bit of a walk up but you are out of the crowds of Namche, have great views from the lodge, and you have a head start on your trek further into the Solukhumbu. I have posted a picture of the lodge owner, a wonderfully friendly woman.

Nothing better than spending your last night of the EBC trek in Namche. Fun place to have a few beers and chill out after such a great experience in the Himalayas!

When you first come around the corner and see Namche in all its glory it takes your breath away. Located in a bowl high up in Himalayas. It is a trekking base with clean looking trekkers going higher and scruffy smelly ones on the way back 😄 air is a great place to hone your negotiating skills with the local traders.

I did the EBC trek but for all treks on the Everest area you must stop here for acclimatization day. It is a beautiful small town where you can find everything needed for trekking. Also has many small cafes/restaurants and pubs so night life is on. Also a great place to buy souvenirs although i recommend to buy everything on your way down so you don’t carry them all during your trek. I really recommend walking around to all the corners of the town even if its very cold and even if its dark. You never know where you can find a little local shop that sends things cheaper at the same quality. And also do not worry about being out alone at dark. I was a single female traveler and as much as I made many friends I like to wonder alone from time to time and I never felt like i was in danger or anything.

Ok ... lets be honest. its not the most exciting city BUT when you are hiking / trekking is fantastic. we spend two nights there on the way "up", and a night on the way down. it was the great and a welcome site! ENJOY
